My girlfriend and I went to SFGAm on Sunday 3/4/03 to get on a few rides. The weather was kind of sub-par but that might have kept the crowds at bay. I guess that is the price you pay to have short lines. We primarily went to go on Superman Ulimate Flight.

We got in line after hearing the wait was about an hour. It ended up being only 45 minutes and that was even with waiting extra for the front row.

The New Orleans theming is still in tact and everything in the area seems to be freshly painted including the Carousel which looked better than I ever remember it looking in recent memory. There is little theming to Superman Ultimate Flight, but does there really need to be? They did have some signs with some of the various heroes, heroins, and villains in the Superman comics. Each one has a little bio card by them but I found the print to be very small and hard to read. Guess I need binoculars next time.

The ride itself is beyond description. Unbelievable. I had already ridden X-Flight at Six Flags Worlds of Adventure and in my opinion ride quality and comfort on Superman far exceeded that of X-Flight. Yes X-Flight has a more interesting layout but I think I far more enjoyed Superman.

What really stood out for me was looking down going up the lift hill and going through the pretzel loop. The pretzel loop was extremely intense and thrilling. I was also suprised that Superman takes up most of the area that Shockwave once stood in. Though Superman in my opinion looks better than Shockwave did in the same spot.

The only note is that there will be something other than pavement to look at while flying which is a good thing. Although I think that all they did was put the dirt on top of the parking lot rather than tear out the parking lot. Also the bridge is gone.

My rating is 5 out of 5 stars. An extremely superb addition to Six Flags Great America's impressive Coaster lineup.

I heard mixed reviews about the ride as I walked down the exit path. Some loved it, some hated it. Some thought it was smooth, others (including my friend) thought it needed to be smoother for some reason.

The most common complaint I heard was that the ride was boring after the loop, and I agree for the most part. I was, however, expecting the turns to be forceless, and there was a pretty good force to them, so I left the ride happier then I expected to be. And the pretzel, well, that goes without saying...

Never Has Gravity Been So Uplifting.

I've ridden S:UF at SFoG and have also ridden X-flight at SFWoA. My preference is for S:UF also, for the same reasons you mention. That pretzel loop is just awesome!
