SFGAm Stations

Allright so at SFGAm has anyone else noticed how the park seems to manage the ride stations differently every week. What i am saying is like on V2 when you are waiting in line (a rare occurance thanks to S:UF) they sometimes stop you before the stairs up to the station but on other days they allow the GP to crowd into the station and wait on the stairs. Viper's station is famous for this. When you are waiting in line for Viper you go trough the actual line really quickly but once you enter the Station it is madness! It is a complete mess in there people jump each other un line it's chaos! I always like it when they have a ride op at the entrance of the station directing the flow of people into the station. It may make the line seem longer but in reality it is the same wait just more comfortably. Last season on Deja Vu the ride ops useually had that situation under control but when it wasn't it got ugly. People get hot and cranky and it just isn't a good expierence. Anyone else have any thoughts?

I went yesterday and for the first time ever, they controlled the station for Viper. It was the first time it has ever happened when I was there. They did it for V2, Viper and that's it I think. But as soon as I got off the ride, I looked at the station, and it looked like the guy left cause it was packed again.

There is no such thing as a stupid question, just stupid people.
I've noticed that on Viper... the station is chaos.... and the V2 ops didn't used to hold you at the bottom of the stairs, I don't think, but they did earlier in the day when I was there.... but 8:30 with a 9:00 closing time they had stopped.... but the line would only have reached the bottom of the stairs anyway.

Wait, Deja Vu actually ran last year?!? :)

I play in a really awful garage band, but it's still fun.

In the case of V2, they have an employee doing two functions.

1. Punch fastlane cards

2. Control crowds entering the station.

MF#1RB#2BVL: they used to (several years ago) post a person at the entrance to the Viper station, I am thrilled to hear that they're doing it again.

I think it probably all depends on staffing, and if they have any extra people. I imagine the first priority are the station platforms (to run all trains), then the little extras like crowd control.

I wouldn't think staffing woudl be a big issue on Viper. It only takes two people too run 2 trains. Very efficiently I might add.

Makes me wonder why more coasters aren't fully automated.

Well Viper was designed to do the 2 ride ops thing. But last season they had four. Why i do not know. It is a rare occurance to see them stopping people at the entrance of Viper's station also. Stopping people at the station stops some vandals because a ride op is watching you

Having an attendant is great but I think that there are two improvements that will make the Viper ride queue better in the station, cheaply without costing a ride op:

-Put in some queues at the back of the station for everyone to wait in before choosing their seats.

-Extend the queues for each individual row, I hate staring at a mass of humanity and trying to figure out who is waiting for what row.

I hate when the park does that, I mean let the stations get chaos. I like sitting in the second row on many of the coasters down there. With RB, V2, and Viper a lot of the lines get tangled together, it just gets too confusing. I like when the park controls the lines, it's a lot more enjoyable and a lot easier to find all the rows.

I have noticed that the park does control the line on Whizzer. I haven't seen it yet on RB and Viper this year.

I haven't seen it on Raging Bull since opening year, when they told you what seat to take at the top of the stairs. Vipers line is great when they do the crowd control although it varies, and both Whizzer and V2 do it because of Fastlane.

Well touchdown the only problem with the first one is that it will never happen due to the fact that SFGAm's employees took 1 year and 1 month to put all the wheel covers on batman :-). It would be a good idea just wont happen. The second idea i love. if they extended the handrails by 5 feet i would be happy. Deja vu's line has no handrails at all in the station that pisses me off. All in all i think it is cheaper to just plop a ride op there.
