SFGAM Questions

I have a few questions about SFGAM. First off has anyone been on Viper with no brakes. I went on the third last train of the night and as I was entering the station the ops were saying no brakes for the last train of the night. Is this true or where they messingaround with the people on the last train?

Also, what is going to be gone after this yera to make room for a new coaster? Wolf, Whizzer, or Shockwave? I hope none, but I wouldn't really care if any of them were taken down.

Finally how good is Deja Vu? SFGAM is my hom park and of the two times I've been there this year its had long lines or closed. Is it better than V2?

Viper's only brakes are in the brake run and station. if it ran without brakes you'd shoot out of the station at amazing speeds and then go back up the lift.

I can't tell you the future, but I can tell you what Great America reps have said several times. Great America is in the coaster building industry, not the coaster removing industry.

Deja Vu is a ball of fun, but nowhere near worth the lines. its about level with V2 for me.

IMO I think Deja Vu is a little better then v2 but i wouldn't wait more than an hour or so for it again, just wait for a day with a 50 percent chance of rain.

If they take out a coaster, I would rather see Iron Wolf go than Shockwave, i know it's the first B&M but I think it's a lot worse than Shockwave. It has a lot longer line than Shockwave too.

If Wolf consistently has a longer line than Shockwave then why remove Wolf? Wouldn't that be a stupid move?

Deja Vu is incrediable and I think it's worth every second of the line you wait in to ride it. But if you don't want to wait in line for it either run to it in the morning or ride it towards the end of the night this way the line doesn't take up other coaster riding time. I think Deja Vu is alot better than V2, after riding Deja Vu it makes V2's holding brake feel like nothing. Also if you do ride Deja Vu make sure you ride on a wing unless your in front row.

Viper has no brakes so the ride op was probally just joking around.

Yeah, the op was joking around. Ops don't have control over trims to begin with, and Viper is trim free, and should stay that way for a long long time, or they'll be hearing from everyone on these boards who's ridden it!

The DVD! (Deja Vu Defender)

i don't know about everybody else but as of right now, Deja Vu is my favorite ride in the park...i'm sure i'll go back to like Raging Bull more as Deja Vu ages but right now i think it is a kickass ride when it is open...i don't know about any ride removals...there is always space somewhere...

It's very close, but I think DV is slightly better than V2. Like "the guy", it's my favorite ride in the park right now, though I think that overall, Raging Bull is still the best ride in the park. However, that ride has simply lost all "thrill factor" for me as I've ridden it too many times.

If any coaster goes, my guess is that it will probably be Whizzer.

I'll take V2. It at least operates most of the time and has a better ride capacity!!

But RB beats them all.

Really the sign may say 2 1/2 hours but if that main block is not filled and even if it is it may be 2 hours filled and really only an hour when it isn't. While several people prefer the front, I much prefer the back because you get some spectacular views during the first lift and some of the greatest positive g's you could ever hope to experience. I'd just try getting to the park opening wait for the chain to drop, maybe time for one stop (for fastlane!) or just head right to it, no need to run or anything like others do and you'll get on one of the first couple runs, that station can fill pretty good.

I like Deja Vu A LOT BETTER than V2, that first drop in the back seat is awesome, worth a 2 hour line. When I went to SFGAm June 12 and 13, the longest line for DV was 45 minutes w/breakdowns!

Six Flags-Its everywhere you want to be...sadly:(

I've ridden it twice. (It being Deja Vu)

The first time, it was awesome. I couldn't contain my glee. That would have been last October, the first day it opened to the public (and the first ride, too... :) )

I rode it a week or so ago, and I can honestly say that I didn't get into it like I can with V2. I waited about 45 minutes. The ride is fun, but don't look for it to be the be-all end-all of coasters.

V2 is more fun to ride, and re-ride.

Also, if they remove a ride, they have to remove Shockwave. Everyone has a soft spot for Whizzer (but they'll probably remove it due to maintenance issues), Iron Wolf isn't bad, and it certainly is popular, and Shockwave is all but unridable now. I'll probably hear it for saying that, but I'm absolutely serious. Only ride if you want to say you did... Otherwise, avvvvvoid!

After the girl having a brian problem on shockwave I woulden'd be suprised to see it go, yet I would be very sad! Before that happen I was thinking the wizzer because it is not very safe. I can see a new B&M or intimin coming in 03. I just have a strange feeling.

I think Whizzer is probably the most likely to be removed for something new. No one seems to care that it is the only coaster of it's kind left.

Deja Vu was a fun ride, and the lift and drop gave a great feeling, but it really isn't worth the wait, It was nice and intense though, but I prefer V2.

None of them will be gone. GAm has plenty of open, un-used room to develop on, and won't be demolishing any of their other world-class thrill rides.

Crito, ergo sum.

Brentwood, is something wrong with you? Why would you want to remove the Whizzer? Younger kids do visit SFGAm and I'm sure that they would like to be able to ride something more thriling than Spacely Sprockets Rockets. Not only is it the perfect family coaster but I think it rounds off GA's coaster collection.

Blink3020, I don't think any of us WANTS Whizzer removed...it just appears to be an inevitability...sad, but if the park is really having problems getting parts to keep it running, they are kinda forced to make that move eventually....

Amazing, it was the rumors of Whizzer that forced my hand and made the MidWester trip take a stop in Gurnee....not to mention how the park was able to round out my riding experiences....that park was a highlight of the trip, even cold and rainy......

GIVE ME ONE GOOD REASON WHY WHIZZER ISN'T SAFE. If it wasn't safe, the state wouldn't let them operate it. How dare you say such a thing about the Whizzer.

*applauds furiously*
unfortunatly it will most likely be Whizzer to go, as me and Arrow Guy received that news from ride ops, mechanics and security this past weekend

Since we're on the topic of SFGAm, I went today, and to my great surprise, our old friend, The Raging Bull, is back. I had my best ride of the season (out of 50 or so rides) in the teal train row 9-1. I used the tip handed out by some buzzer (too lazy too kook it up again) to not sit all the way back, and that gave me plenty of room. The ride was very powerful today. Made my day. :)
