SFGAm Question

Hey folks.

Looks like the season is wrapping up and I'll be heading to SFGAm on Saturday. Anyone have a good plan of attack to get through all the coasters in this park in a timely manner? I'd like to ride all the coasters I can while having some time to just enjoy the park.

Well, with the park being open 11 hours that day and SW not being an option to ride, you shouldnt have any problem hitting all the coasters. You will have plenty of time.

If you want to get on Deja-Vu, make sure you head over there when the ride first opens, which in this case probably wont be until around noon.

I agree with Chitown...don't be sprinting to DejaVu as soon as the gates open...because, as he said, it will most likely NOT open until at least noon.

You'll get all sorts of theories of what to hit first, second, third etc. There have been studies showing that most guests head to the right when they enter a park....but, this "fact" has been out there for some time so many guests now head to the left first trying to beat the masses.

I think it is pretty safe to say that if you get there when the gates open and you head left, you will be able to hit Batman and V2 with little to no wait. Then you can continue around and hit Iron Wolf (if you really must) then stop and ride the American Eagle (sounds like backwards is your only option at this point in the season). From there, you can check out DejaVu and Demon. Next stop would be Southwest Territory to do the Drop and Raging Bull. Really, besides flats, all you have left is Whizzer, and that is right around the corner from SW Territory.

Like Chitown said, assuming you get there when the gates open you should have NO problem knocking out all the coasters (along with all/most of the flats). Well, I guess you do need to factor in some time to pay your final respects to Shockwave. ;)

Don't count on being able to ride everything. I was there last Saturday and crowds were terrible - by far the longest lines I've ever seen. We were there for nine hours and only rode five rides (sadly, Deja Vu never opened). The line for every coaster except AE spilled way out into the midway. Bull stretched halfway back to Viper. Batman's entire overflow queue was full, and then line stretched behind Crawler, and past the former Cliffhanger site at least 300 feet. V2 was again using the bridge for line space and still spilled out of the queue and behind the New England Cafe (or whatever that place is called).

My advice? Go on Friday (the park will be *empty*) or, if that's not possible, Sunday. Saturdays suck.

Plan B? Fastpass.

Fastpass was great when I was there earlier this year.

However, I am not sure if Joe or his companion for the trip, Jake, are smart enough to use it.

Yes, I needed to flame... Someone forgot to invite me on this trip, you losers...

Just kidding, At least I get my secondary prize of spending my 9th and 10th days at Cedar Point this year.

Well, I'lll just relate to you a successful Fright Fest I had and see what you think. First: I got there early. I'm sure you know to do that, but it really can't be over-emphasized. For the first hour or so, the back of the park was epmty, so that's when I got most of my rides in. I headed straight to Demon and got a quick ride on that. I then headed to American Eagle. However, if Deja Vu' is open, then for God's sake ride it first thing! The likelyhood of that is slim, but keep it in mind. Anyway, after demon, I hit the Eagle, then Iron Wolf, and then Batman, all in quick succesion. From there I hit Shcok Wave. As this is no longer an option, you can use this time to experience V2. This was all accomplished in the first hour and a half. After that, I took a lunch break, and buckled down for the hour-long waits for Viper, Raging Bull, and Whizzer. Throw in two more hours for Deja Vu. it can be done, but with Deja Vu's wait, it won't be all that fun. Oh, and I've never used Fastpass, but it sounds like it might help for some of the longer waits you'll have to deal with.

If at all possible, avoid the park on Saturdays. It doesn't matter if it's Fright Fest, Regular Season, Pre-Season, whatever...Saturdays just suck period. Rain is about the only way you can escape a crowd on Saturday, and of course, nothing is open when it rains.

I was at SFGAm just two saturdays ago and it wasn't terribly busy. I rode everyride once with no more than an hour wait. AE was running but broke down everytime I went to ride it. (Got to the station and it would get stuck in the final helix) I got there just after park open at around 10:30 spend long times between each ride, rode Raging Bull twice since AE was broke and still rode everything, looked in stores and was out of the park before 8pm.

I've worked at PKI for the past five years, from experience the third weekend in October is generally busier for some unknown reason. So if you plan on going to SFGAm next saturday and they are anything like PKI you might luck out on a smaller crowd.

SEE YA THERE JOE.:)I'm headed to six flags on saturday 2.
