Get there early, at 9. Get in the parking lot, wait for the rest of my group to get tickets, then wait under the bridge near Shockwave. Once the chain dropped, we walked to V2. First ride in the back seat on it, it was crazy. You just go up and up and up. I like the front better, though.
Batman front was next, smooth as ever, but one of the trains didn't have wheel covers on it. I thought that was strange. I made up my mind. This ride is far better than Montu.
Iron Wolf was next. Front row, the visuals were sweet. I saw what I think was the Cliffhanger shell and Sky Whirl cages in the employee parking lot.
American Eagle was next in line, blue side was the only open one, fine by me. This thing is great backwards. They must have done something very good to it other than turn it backwards, too. Not only were the brakes in the helix light, but throughout the ride I got airtime! And loads of it! I never rode AE when it was in this good of a condition. Later in the day I noticed they were even racing them, and blue always was ahead. That never used to happen.
Next we headed towards DV. Line was too long, so onto RB, line was too long. We hopped on Viper, and I got on seat 1:3. I was very disappointed with it. I remember that seat having massive airtime, the double down did almost nothing. A few hills at the end provided good airtime, though. Sadly, AE outperformed Viper today.
After a lunch on the pavement next to the car in section 20, we went to Shockwave. Rode last seat, and it wasn't too rough.
We then went to a hypnosis show, it was quite funny. If you're going there soon (within a few weeks) go see it. Usually I don't goto shows, but since my sister brought me, and she wanted to see it, I did for her. I'm glad I did, too.
We circled the park, riding Demon, then we hung around Hometown Square for a while while I processed my pass, my sis and bro-in-law went on the train, and my friend had an overfried funnel cake. I got my pass, then went on Triple Play and Fun Macine, then met up with my sis again.
From there, we went to Carousel Plaza to ride Space Shuttle and Sky Trek. We saw Chicago, it was really hard to see though. Didn't notice any construction at the park (but who would expect to this early?) Then we went and ate at the car again.
We went to ride Raging Bull next. This line has got to be the most problematic in the park. Last year jumping and smoking were very bad, today 2 people jumped, and countless smoked. Yuck! Rode it front seat after an hour wait (should have been 40 minutes, but only 2 trains were running.) On my way off, Jack stopped me and said hi. Who he is, I don't know, but he is a RB ride op. I guess posting what I'll wear does work.
It was getting close to close, and my sis hadn't had her Dippin Dots yet. We got those, and booked over to Deja Vu. My sis and bro-in-law didn't want to wait, so they sat at a bench for about a half hour, then went to wait at the car (by that time it was a little after 8.) After an hour and a half of waiting in agony, but talking to some ACE member, we got to the station. We had no clue what seats we were going to goto, so I asked what ones the people behind us wanted. They said it didn't matter, so we took the middle two in row 6. Loading on this thing is as bad as Gwazi. Seat belts first, then main restraint. After riding it, I assigned it the status of my new favorite steel coaster. It is a religous experience to go on it. Any wait is worth this ride. I don't care about all of the mixed reviews, technical problems, and atrochious (sp?) capacity, it is the only coaster that makes me cuss.
