SFGAm Opening day

Associated parks:
None

My dad had some place he had to go so my friend and I were dropped off at 8:30. We got in the park at 9:30 and waited at the train bridge until 10:00. We ran to Deja Vu and were on the first train of the 2002 season in row 1B. Then we went to AE backwards. It was a great ride except I almost puked. After a short break, we went on Iron Wolf. Then we went to V2. there was no line. Then we went to Batman. Six Flags was so lazy that one of the trains had NO wheel covers on it. Then we went on Raging bull which ony had two trains. After lunch, we waited in line for Deja Vu. Half way through the line, I found one of the cards they use for the wait signs. One side says 90 and the other says 2 1/2. We went on AE forward and they were racing until we got on. They didn't race our train because the red side operator was on the phone. ): Then we went on Batman again, this time with fast lane. Then we went Shockwave which was actually somewhat enjoyable since I'm tall enough that my head is over the restraints. Then we went on Viper. My friend saw one of the three guys behind us showing his friend some marajuana. After we got off the ride, my friend decided to tell security. They searched the guys and found nothing. My friend claims that they didn't search all of their pockets. Then, we went to Raging Bull again. Then we went on Deja Vu one last time. At the end of our wait, it broke down for a few minutes. Then someone started on the ride in the station. To clean one seat, the ride ops told evryone to get off the train and then called two mechanics. Why they needed mechanics to clean a seat I don't know. We finally got to ride. My friend wanted to ride in back. I think the back for some reason is way rougher. On our way out, a big fat woman fell in the pond by the carousel. Orbit, for some reason was still in pieces.

2002 Improvements:
Funnel Cake Foundry painted red and white.
Whizzer trains being repainted and reupolstered, only one is finished.
Carousel repainted with red, white, blue, and gold. Looks a lot better.
Cajun Cliffhanger is gone.
Power Dive definatly wont be reopening, they turned the line into a games area called Power Alley.

Hopefully the investment into Whizzer is a good sign that it's here to stay...

Wow talk about weird I was in row 1A of the first train for Deja Vu! Me and my brother were the first ones in line, you must have been right behind us. Also I was on the red side of Eagle when the red side operator was on the phone. That made me so mad! I really wanted to race. The trains after us raced though.

I do hope so, but the weird thing is, Great America painted the motor covers for Sky Whirl for the 25th anniversary, and while that may not be as big as what they are doing to Whizzer, I still find it weird how they went through the trouble, only to take it out later in the year.
