SFGAm on the Travel Channel tonight

No, they aren't doing an entire show, but in the second half of the show "Chicago: Inside the Windy City " they highlight SFGAm. (According to a brief article in the Chicago Tribune http://www.chicagotribune.com/features/printedition/chi-0303130047mar13,1,2632955.story?coll=chi%2Dprinttempo%2Dhed )

Here's a link to the show description (which doesn't mention SFGAm). http://travel.discovery.com/schedule/episode.jsp?episode=0&cpi=85972

It airs tonight at 10:00E/9:00C and 1amE/Midnight and is re-aired Sunday at 5pE/4C

Never Has Gravity Been So Uplifting.

Wow, great show about Chicago. I am surprised they ventured out to SFGAm for a segment, but anyway, it was a great segment that gave great footage of the park. Travel Channel did a great job.

Arena football has arrived in the Windy City. Go "Chicago Rush"

Shoot I missed it! Guess I'll have to watch it again tonight at 1!
agreed. I enjoyed the whole show and the SFGA segment in particular.

gimmie a hell yeah!

They said that Iron Wolf was is the tallest and fastest stand-up coaster. But anyway the show was really cool.

Is it May 3rd yet? SFGAm

Heck, even some of the unknowns were news to me. Like the creator of White Castle restaurants getting his idea of the structure for his restaurants from the structure of Water Tower.

Iron Wolf was the tallest and fastest standup when it was built so its not far-fetched. :)

It was a good show...No doubt they filmed it last season since they showed GAm Eagle Blue backwards.

And one last hurrah for Shockwave lovers out there too. ;)

Although the guy they interviewed from Theme Park Magazine (or something like that) I believe his interview was both canned and filmed at another park. That seemed to be Gemini behind him, IMHO. Opinions?

Nahh, that was Viper he was in front of. Look at this pic.

You can see Viper's structure on the right side of the pic which looks like what he was standing in front of.

Miss coastergames.net? Here is a good site.

Actually, they said something to the effect of "...one of the largest collections of coasters in the world..."

Not exactly what they said, but they didn't say they had the most, just implied that were one of the largest parks...you know, a typical pro-hype statement made in shows like this or in advertising.

Current favorite coasters:
Wooden: 1) Beast 2) Raven 3) Son of Beast 4) The Boss 5) Timber Wolf
Steel: 1) Raging Bull 2) Millennium Force 3) V2 4) Wild Thing 5) Deja Vu / Mr. Freeze (tie)

Actually it was closer to the largest *variety* of coasters. They must have filmed that in 2001. As far as I know, Shockwave wasn't open at all last season.

Shockwave was open last season...it broke down in August...Plus they had film of DejaVu working - so it had to be 2002 ;)

I believe that they filmed this either late 2001 or early 2002, beceause Deja Vu wasn't open till fall of 2001 and you see what the people were wearing, pants and jackets. So it had take place in the fall or spring. Or maybe these people came from the south and thought it was cold out, plus was nice seeing ShockWave working.

Actually, I just checked out the RCDB... Looks to me like there are only seven parks with more coasters than Geat America in the world, and only two that merely equal it. And that's with crediting SFGAm with eleven coasters, not the twelve they probably told the TV crew. All in all, I don't think it's just hype: SFGAm's got a lot of coasters.
