SFGAm on Mother's Day (5/11/03)

I was just wondering if anybody has been there in recent years on mom's day? This is the 2nd year in a row that I can remember that they are doing the "Bring a friend for free" day for the season pass holders on that day, and wanted to know how the crowds have been in the past. I am guessing that they are light, for that would be why I would issue free tickets (be on less-crowded days). Anybody know?
Last year during Mothers Day was my second greatest day at the park, my first being the Friday of Last Blast. I got about 20 rides on Raging Bull without getting off and about 15 or so on Viper I believe. If you search through the trip reports you should be able to find my TR. Its a great day to go, especially if they forecast rain!

Absolutely. Last year was great. In fact, that entire weekend, the park was empty, and as CD316 said, rain usually helps! :)

Checking the weather forecast, it says rain saturday, so you might get lucky and have it raining on sunday.

So did you all bring your mom's with?.......
Yeah I"ll be at CP this Mother's Day, hopefully it won't be bad...

My mom would go with me if i begged her, but she wouldnt ride any rides. She HATES roller coasters, they put the fear of death in her. When my brother and I were younger, in our pre-driving years, she (or my dad, or both) used to drive us up the hour long drive to SFGAm 10 - 20 times a year. She would just sit and read a book or ride the train while my brother and I would have a day at riding roller coasters.

One day, my mom wanted to try them out (she hadn't been on one since The Bobs at Riverview). I got to ride with her on The Eagle & my brother on The Demon. After that, she couldnt speak from screaming 100% of each ride, & hasn't mention going on them again.

Luckily, for me, my mom has plans that don't involve me Sunday afternoon.

I was asking about Mom's cause if I do make it out to SFGAm this Sunday it would be with my wife and kids.

I had my heart set on going to the park last Sunday and my wife said that she would prefer not to go because of the chilly weather. I reminded her of the fun we had at Last Blast in early November. She still said she preferred to go see the new Lizzie McGuire movie with our daughters. Then she told me she would be open on going to the park on Mothers day, which totally surprised me!

I would have never asked her to go to SFGAm on Mother's day for fear of getting in trouble. "YOU WANT TO GO WHERE ON MOTHER'S DAY?????"

So now, with the weather that is anticipated this weeked, I am still wondering if we will end up going. But I certainly hope so, I bet the park will be fairly quiet and we will enjoy the day.... it could make for a really fun Mother's Day!

The weather doesn't look too promising, but hopefully you'll still be able to enjoy the rides and attractions. People have been stating last year's Mother Day was great, with rain in the forecast. As of today, Sunday is forecasting 54 degrees and showers during the day. If you dress up for the weather, it should be fine. I would go, but have other plans for Mother's Day. I guess that's one more Season Pass coupon I can't use.
