SFGAm October 28, 2001:Deja Vu runs great all day.

I arrived at Great America right when it opened at 10 I went right to Southwest Territory.  I went to Viper and walked right on.  At about 10:15 we were in line for our second ride Raging Bull, the wait for it was about 45 min. since they put the third train on.  When we got off there it was about 11 so we decided to find out what was going on with Deja Vu and go to the Demon.  We went over to Deja Vu and the guy told us to check back at around 1.  So we went over to Demon which was walk on so we rode that twice.  By then it was time for lunch so we headed over by the Eagle and had Pizza at Luigis Pizza.  After that we went over to the Eagle, Unfortunally they were only running the blue side so I knew the line was going to take a little longer than usually.  The line took about a half hour.  I really hate the trims before the last helix though that they added this year.  After the Eagle we were thinking about heading over to Deja Vu and waiting for it to open, but I decided since I knew that it didn't open Friday or Saturday not to go over there.  So we went over to Iron Wolf and right when we were in the middle of the line Deja Vu started testing,  so I watched the test runs hoping that it made it up the second tower everytime, because I knew they wouldn't open it if it didn't make it up the 2nd tower one time. So after a 15 minute wait for Iron Wolf I went over to Deja Vu and the line was out to the Farmers Market, The main purpose of this trip was to ride Deja Vu so I took a chance knowing it could break down and got in line. An hour into the line I was really happy because I finally was going to ride Deja Vu and then the Train stopped going up the first tower, which scared me for a second.  They brought the train down and ran 1 test run and continued on after 2 hours of waiting for it I finally got my first ride on Deja Vu and what a ride it was.  Hanging by your harness going up that first tower was just insane, but my biggest surprise about the ride was that on the second tower I was half way upside down and hanging by my harness again which was awesome.  This ride was well worth the 2 hour wait, I loved it.  The whole rest of the day since it stopped on the tower for 5 min. the ride ran great.  After going on that my trip felt complete but it was only 3 and I still didn't ride Batman, Shockwave or Whizzer.  So we headed all the way across the park to Batman TR the line was about 20 min. after Batman we headed towards Shockwave but there was still a line for it (I have never waited in a line more than 5 min. for Shockwave since at night its always walk on)  So we decided to pass up Shockwave and comeback later.  We then went over the sky trek tower and took some pictures and then went on Superstition which took about 20min. to get on.  Then we headed to Whizzer and got on in 15min.  This had to be one of the coolest rides I have ever had on Whizzer as we were coming around 1 of the turns the explosion from the show they had for the train went off it was great.  After the Whizzer we went over to ride Terror Twister(Chubasco)  I love this ride during Fright Fest, I wish they always had this ride set up like this.  It was pitch black and had strobe lights and spotlights going while you were spinning, my brother got sick on this ride and surprisingly I felt fine.  After this we decided to go back to Shockwave.  When we got over there we were happy to see it was walk on so we rode it three times, these had to be the three smoothest rides I ever had on Shockwave.  It was great.  Then with only 1 hour to go we headed back over to Southwest Territory to get our final rides.  We went on Viper again and waited 15 min. I love this ride at night this is my favorite wooden coaster at night.  After it we got off we only had about 35 min. left so we got in line for Raging Bull for our last ride of the 2001 season.  We rode Raging Bull front row thinking it would be our last ride of the season.  Well we were surprised that when we got off we still had about 2 min.  to get back in line.  So we ran out of the ride and got back in line just in time.  After another 30 min. line we got back car and had a great ride as always on my favorite coaster.  With 2 great rides on Raging Bull it was a great way to end the season.  The park on the last day wasn't packed but then again it wasn't empty it was pretty normal and I was happy about that, since that was my main concern about going during the last day.

Also just to note I think this year was the best year themeing wise for Freight Fest.
-----------------
You mentioned the trims added before the final helix on AE. Those have been there for a long time, they aren't a new 2001 addition.

-----------------

I know there have always been trims there but this year they pretty much stop you there.  They slow you down alot more this year.
