SFGAm for large riders

I'm planning a trip to Great America soon, and I was wondering do many of the rides accomodate large riders? I'm going with my boyfriend, and I'm trying to figure out if he would be able to ride some of the coasters. He really hasn't been on too many coasters, as we've only been to Indiana Beach. I've seen photos of the coasters, and am wondering if anyone had any suggestions.

Well, now that I no longer work at SFGAm, I can tell you, Batman: The Ride has a little thing on the ride qualifier signs, that says something about guests having chest dimensions of over 52 inches might have problems. So, I would guess most of the OTSR's are like this, but thats just a guess.

Your boyfriend shouldn't have any problems, but V2 might be a tight squeeze.

Try the test chairs at the coasters that have them. That's what they are there for.
Indy,

How large is large? I am 6'3, 270-275#, I can barely fit in BTR and had to be forcibly stapled (thanks Lumpy) to get in V2. The rest of the rides I fit in without any problems...

He's 6'2, 280#. I've been looking at photos for V2(don't know from which park), but it looks as if there are two seatbelt buckles.

Hey, Redman!! Did the ops staple you in? They would do it last year but this year at CBCon they said they werent allowed to do it anymore. I was denied a ride at CBCon because of that and I was only off by the smallest margin.

It all depends on his cheast (aka trunk) size. My dad is 230 but cant fit because of his abnormally long trunk. Shouldnt have a problem but if he does it will likely be on V2, which for some odd reason does not have a test chair, you'll just have to brave the lines.

Summer 03-CP, HP, Canobie, SFNE, SFWOA, and SFGAm.

He might have a problem getting on Superman, when i went the other day, a girl was not able to fit in the seat, and she was not really that big. Just try out the test seats prior to riding.

Bob, no a ride op didn't staple me. A Cbuzzer (Lumpy) did it for me.

Indy, yes, there are two buckle locations but one is for "tiny" people and then there's the larger buckle which is the one I (and your BF) would use.

V2 is a nightmare for larger people. If they would just put an extra inch on the seatbelt it would be a lot better.

Riding the Bull anywhere but the back is merely going for a walk.

indy he might have a problem last year i saw a guy who was too tall for deja vu and for batman.
Yeah, that back seatbelt buckle on V2 shouldn't even count. If you fit the back buckle, you're probably not tall enough to ride.

At least I've never seen anyone use it...

I can almost use it... but then then I would have to be REALLY stapled. That is why on Wicked Twister I was really suprised that they moved my seatbelt from the front buckle to the back, I guess they have a different buckle configurment there.

Just likeTouchdown said, if he has a large trunk it will be impossible for him to ride.

Just from my experience with other parks with similar rides:

V2 is going to be really rough, I have a 48" chest and couldn't ride Wicked Twister the other day. I've ridden S:UE at SFWoA before so you'll have to take your chances in line for V2.

Wish they'd have the extension like at Volcano or add about an inch to the seatbelt or move the front mounting.

Have Fun!

George

What you can do, is go up the exit of any ride that you think he might have a problem fitting into, and ask the ride ops if you can just test to see if he can fit. That way, you don't have to waste your time in line if he can't fit.

Only Superman has a test seat. Most of the other coasters used to, but they all disappeared this season. He shouldn't have a problem with Batman or Superman, I don't really know about V2. And all of the other rides should be fine.

Raging Bull and Batman also have the test seats out.

Whats red yellow and blue at SFGAm...???

They still have to put on the remaining wheel covers which are sitting in the station shed.
