SFGAM Demon Original sign

Hey do you guys think that the original Demon sign at Sfgam was just buired. When you look at the sign now the ground underneath it is elavated. Do any of you know if this is what happend to the sign?

I doubt that it was buried...

It would most likely have been stored away in the park's warehouse, storage lot or underneath the ride's loading platform.

Actully kRaXLedRidAh the rest of the sign does look like it was buried, I personally think it was buried and so do many other people I have talked too about it.

Then and now. After comparing these pics, and memory, I am sure the stone was cut, and the sign moved back a bit. The drain pipe itself wasn't that large in diameter, and still appears to be inside. The mound is still there behind it. Paul D's pics are quite nice as well.

Where is the Demon? BOING! How did he get there? BOING! And why? WHY does he stay? Aaaaaaaaaugh!

i took a look at arrow guy's pitures and you can clearly see that the grout lines are different. the old sign had lined up grout lines 2 rows at a time. the current sign has offset grout lines. this leads me to beleave that the sign was replaced rather than cut down.
The letters are obviously different than the originals, but I didn't notice the stone to be. Now that you mention it, I can see the difference in the newer flatter stone.....this means that somewhere there's a giant stone wall with a hole in it! I'd give anything to walk past Demon Nachos and find that thing staring at me again! :(

Your right, that has to be a differentsign. But the question is where is the old one?

yeah the old one would be one hell of a collector's item!

if it is still there... that'd be an incredible (and impossible) prank to sneak in and dig it back up overnight! but itd be incredibly awesome.

well my guess is that the letters for the sign are in storage and the rest is more than likely in a garbage dump some whare.

from what you have all been talking about the Demon used to be themed very well. unfortunently the lack of theming now takes a lot away from the ride in my opinion. the fact that it gives me a migrane every time i ride it doesent help eather.

I'm not a fan of headbanging loopers, but Demon wasn't nearly as bad as I expected it to be. Even my husband was impressed with it, and my son rode it several times (also unusual for him). I never saw the previous theming, but I enjoyed the tunnels and the way the loops had that rocky landscape.

Just put all the original theming, and put a sign by the entrance "Any effects used in any portion of this roller coaster or the path to it do not reflect on any of the staff at Six Flags Great America."

I have compared the pics, and the grout lines are the same! (Look carefully!)

But it was cut, not buried, because they added a third row after it was cut.

they do add a bit of the themeing back for fright fest.. the signs are not there, but the red lake, smoke, & theme song are back
I was shocked to visit PGA this year and see many of their rocks removed, even though last year much of the theming was restored. I'd hate to have seen it before then! I don't see how parks and fairs can have ghoulish theming for rides, and yet the Demons couldn't keep theirs. There wasn't anything remotely close to the realistic corpses and props seen at many of today's Halloween events.

Hey wait! SF "listened" to our cries for Whizzer, so maybe this ongoing plea for Demon's theming will succeed! LOL Of course, we all know SF has been planning on bringing it back, but won't tell us until 2005.
