It is 12. The American Eagle has 2 seperate rides, because a lot of people have personal favorites to which side they would rather ride.
Everybody counts it as two since the park counts it as 2.

The Raging Bull #1!!
thanks guys for clearing up the confusion. i guess it is a matter of personal judgement then, whether or not the park has 11 or 12 coasters. since i tend to be more conservative in my coaster counts, i'll stick with my original count of 11. *** This post was edited by sharptent on 3/28/2001. ***
Actually, I think great america counts daredevil dive as a coaster...
I doubt that DareDevil Dive is counted as a coaster. I can't remeber clearly how many coasters they said they had in '99 (the Bull's first season.) I think that it was 10, which would be:
1. Batman
2. Iron Wolf
3. Raging Bull
4. Shockwave
5. Demon
6. Whizzer
7. Viper
8. Spacely's
9. American Eagle RED
10. American Eagle BLUE

Deja Vu & V2. Can life get any better?
Dare Devil Dive is NOT a coaster and Six Flags Great America does not count it as such!

The Raging Bull #1!!
SFGAM officially counts American Eagle as 2. This should not count as 2 though because almost all the parks don't count their racers as 2.
Well Magic Mountain doesn't count Colossous as 2 coasters.

This is only a marketing tool by saying 12 coasters. They know they have 11 but in some respects they can legally count AE as 2. Now if it came down to some type of world record they would be forced to count AE as 1.

I think it really depends on how similar the two tracks are if you're going to call them one coaster.
Rolling Thunder @ SFGAdv should be 2 because the two sides have much differant layouts.
S:TE (and whoever doesn't think it's a coaster just play along) is identical on both sides and should be considered one.
American Eagle lies right in between the two. I guess you guys could say it is 1 or 2. I personally would think it's 2 because they are separated after the first helix and for the 2nd helixes. Not only that, but RED has an extra hill, and is favored by most at this site that I've heard. Why would you think one is better than the other if you think they are just one coaster?

I don't think they count American Eagle as 2 coasters. I think they're counting Giant Drop.

-------------
Iron Wolf can't be beat! Deja Vu and V2 all the Way!What else is there to Say.
They don't count Giant Drop. If you notice, in the Coasters page at the site, it also says Thrills, and that is what they consider Giant Drop. I belive that AE is 2 coasters in thier eyes.

V2, Deja Vu... how can it be better? Add Viper! Oh, wait. It's already there!
Yes, they are counting AE as 2. Why would they count a freefall ride a coaster?

Well if rcdb counts it as 1, i do.

Take a look at that:

Just to clear up some confusion, the park does count American Eagle as two separate coasters. I also count it as two separate coasters as red and blue share basically nothing in common after the barrel. One, to me, is significantly more thrilling than the other, hence my choice of counting is as two. But yes, SFGAm does count the attraction as two separate coasters for a total of 12.
