SFGAm: brief history and interesting pics.

I havent seen this site in awhile(Gurnee site), but I was glancing through it and came across this page. I remembered seeing this awhile back but I figured some of you have not seen it. It gives a brief history of how the park got started and info on the years to follow.

They have a few pics which show the Columbia Carousel under construction as well as Raging Bull with no track on the descending part of the lift hill(construction pics). Is that the Turn of the Century(Now the Demon) under construction in that first pic at the top of the page?

Check it out:

No, I think that is a log ride. If you go to save it, it's file name is ga_log ride...

Thanx for the link.

I ran across this about a month ago, never thought of posting the link though.  I really like the construction pic of the Columbia Carousel.  That is totally cool.  In that top pic, way in the background you can see the carousel under contruction too off to the way right side.

Thanks for providing this for our enjoyment, Chitown.

Cheers,

Thanks Chitown!!! I always wondered about the Columbia  Carousel and how it was constructed. I had always heard that it was shipped over from Germany.

Beer, My Baby, and Coasters. Is this a great country or what? ;)
Cool! I always get excited wen I see a new GA site, which happens very rarely....
It is the log ride. You can tell it's in what would be Yankee Harbor because of the lighthouse, and as other people said, the file name. Only once have I seen a TOtC, and I don't think there is another on the whole entire net!

TrBigger. You are correct. After looking at the pic more with the position of the lighthouse and the Columbia Carousel , it has to be the Loggers Run.

actually, I think it is actually Yankee Clipper/Ice Mountain Splash.  Loggers run's drop is by the lighthouse.

I also noticed that about halfway up the lift, there is a platform for the second motor since the log ride has two lifts.
