SFGAm and the Waterpark

coasterdude318, first of all you are missing my point. The hotels at the dells are not just accomidations they are attractions. Do you think that the people who pay their astronomical prices are going to shell out more cash to go to Noahs when they can go to one they have allready paid for. The majority of people who visit Noahs are either day trippers or those staying at the cheap places because the trip back home is too long for them.

Also, the hotels do not make their dough in the summer (they make some) but not at all in porpotion to the money they make in the winter when outdoor parks are closed. All the top resorts there are surely are all booked up this Nov-Feb and have been that way for months. We Wisconsinites have discovered a way to have our waterpark fun all year long just like those southerners (without the plane ticket).

Summer 03-CP, HP, SFDL, SFNE, SFWOA, and SFGAm.

When you use the word "hotels" you're basically only using it to describe the *six* of them with major waterparks (Kalahri, Great Wolf, Wilderness, Chula Vista, Treasure Island, Polynesian). So sure, if someone forks over the money to stay in one of the big six they will probably be less likely to go to Noah's Ark. But that's discounting the hundred *other* hotels that don't have any water attractions outside of a swimming pool and a small slide or two! Why do you think so many hotels offer packages with Noah's Ark or advertise their location with respect to Noah's Ark?

The majority of the people who visit the Dells do *not* stay in one of the big six resorts. These are the people who visit one of the other waterparks (another good point that an urban area can sustain more than one waterpark - the Dells has *three* major outdoor ones!).

Hotels in the Dells are full summer or winter. I don't know where you get your facts, but there were successful hotels in the Dells long before the concept of "indoor waterpark" was ever even heard of at a hotel. These major hotels just figured out a way to get people to stay there during the winter as well as in the summer - a way to extend their major money-making season from just a few months to year-round.
