SFGAm 8/19-20 (Not a true TR)

Associated parks:
None

This is not going to be a trip report in it's truest form as I'm not going to rate the coasters. More closer to the truth, it's just some tibits on the park. Ife a "real" TR is wanted/requested, I may write one. Anyway, my random thoughts:

NEW COASTER TRACKS?: Well over the two days I was there, I looked over the park from Shockwave, Raging Bull even the Power Dive and I saw no trace of anything unusual, sorry...

NEW COASTER PLACEMENT: The last rumor I saw before my trip pointed to the Sky Whirl being removed and additionally that the Hay Baler had been taken out. Well the Hay Baler is still onsite, however the cars have been removed. Personally, I dont think they wil even get rid of the triple ferris wheel as it is a park icon. Also, that would put the three newest (big) coasters in the same general are of the park. Not good for crowd flow.

RAGING BULL: I have never seen anybody mention it before so I will now. On the ascent side of the 3rd 'floater' hill there is a trim brake. I never noticed this before. As an enthusiast, I am generally against trim brakes, however, this one does help the back of the train feel more floatage over that hill than one would expect. Also, after riding this near the back, I'm no longer sure that S:ROS @ SFA is that much better...

AMERICAN EAGLE: The eagle is NOT running breakless, however, the brake is on much lighter than before making the 'back' part of the ride fun like it should be.

VIPER: It is amazing with the violent air this ride gives in the FRONT of the train (let alone the back). This is what a good twister should be.

DEMON: This old girl is getting a little rough in her old age. However, she was still mean enough to claim my watch as a sacrifice (good thing I always wear a 'dollar store' timepiece to parks).

SHOCKWAVE: The midcourse break was on much harder than when I went there in July. Suprisingly though, there was still the minimal headban椀渀最⸀  䄀搀搀椀琀椀漀渀愀氀氀礀Ⰰ 猀漀洀攀漀渀攀 洀攀渀琀椀漀渀攀搀 戀攀昀漀爀攀 愀戀漀甀琀 匀栀漀挀欀眀愀瘀攀 栀愀瘀椀渀最 愀 㐀ⴀ琀爀愀椀渀 琀爀愀渀猀昀攀爀 琀爀愀挀欀⸀  圀栀椀氀攀 愀琀 愀 挀愀猀甀愀氀 最氀愀渀挀攀 琀栀椀猀 愀瀀瀀攀愀爀猀 琀漀 戀攀 琀爀甀攀Ⰰ 漀渀攀 漀昀 琀栀攀 琀爀愀欀猀 椀猀 戀氀漀挀欀攀搀 昀爀漀洀 洀漀瘀攀洀攀渀琀 戀礀 琀栀攀 挀漀渀琀爀漀氀 瀀愀渀攀氀⼀戀漀漀琀栀 昀漀爀 琀栀攀 琀爀愀渀猀昀攀爀 琀爀愀挀欀猀⸀  吀栀攀爀攀昀漀爀攀Ⰰ 䤀 搀漀甀戀琀 椀昀 琀栀攀礀 攀瘀攀爀 攀渀攀瘀 琀栀椀渀欀 愀戀漀甀琀 甀猀椀渀最 椀琀⸀ 㰀戀爀㸀 㰀戀爀㸀䤀 琀栀椀渀欀 琀栀愀琀 愀戀漀甀琀 愀氀氀 䤀 栀愀瘀攀 琀漀 猀愀礀⸀  圀愀椀琀 琀栀攀爀攀 椀猀 漀渀攀 洀漀爀攀 琀栀椀渀最⸀  䤀昀 礀漀甀 最漀 琀漀 琀栀攀 瀀愀爀欀Ⰰ 攀愀琀 愀琀 琀栀攀 䴀漀漀猀攀戀甀爀最攀爀 䰀漀搀最攀 椀渀 夀甀欀漀渀 吀攀爀爀椀琀漀爀礀⸀  䘀漀爀 愀戀漀甀琀 ㄀  戀甀挀欀猀 䤀 最漀琀 愀 ㄀⼀㈀ 瀀漀甀渀搀 戀愀挀漀渀 挀栀攀攀猀攀戀甀爀最攀爀Ⰰ 昀爀椀攀猀Ⰰ 愀渀搀 愀 戀漀琀琀漀洀氀攀猀猀 猀漀搀愀 椀渀 愀 猀漀甀瘀攀椀渀攀爀 挀甀瀀⸀  吀栀攀 戀甀爀最攀爀Ⰰ 眀栀椀氀攀 戀爀漀眀渀 愀氀氀 琀栀攀 眀愀礀 琀栀爀漀甀最栀 眀愀猀 猀漀 樀甀椀挀礀 琀栀愀琀 椀琀 眀漀甀氀搀 搀爀椀瀀 愀昀琀攀爀 愀 戀椀琀攀⸀  䤀琀 眀愀猀 眀漀渀搀攀爀昀甀氀⸀  圀攀 眀攀爀攀 猀漀 昀甀氀氀 琀栀愀琀 眀攀 眀攀爀攀 愀氀洀漀猀琀 猀挀愀爀攀搀 琀漀 最攀琀 椀渀 氀椀渀攀 昀漀爀 䤀爀漀渀 圀漀氀昀 ⠀眀栀漀猀攀 ✀渀攀眀✀ 爀攀猀琀爀愀椀渀琀猀 猀琀椀氀氀 愀琀琀愀挀欀攀搀 洀礀 挀爀漀琀挀栀 洀漀爀攀 琀栀愀渀 洀礀 攀愀爀猀⤀⸀  䤀✀氀氀 栀漀氀氀愀⸀ 㰀戀爀㸀氀愀琀愀Ⰰ 㰀戀爀㸀䨀䌀匀一

2Hostyl, you should of mentioned you were going to be there. I would have tried to hook up with you. Actually Jeff and myself have brought up the trim brake on Raging Bull. Just like you, it didnt really affect the ride to me but Jeff thought it killed the airtime in the backseat. Although he said from the front it seemed to help. Next time you pop into Chicago let me know.

But it sure did add to the air in the front! It was like I had forward and upward movement while someone grabbed my stylish Six Flags rain poncho from behind. Sadly, the same effect didn't happen from the back.

ChiTown: Actually I did say that I was going to be there in a postscript to my query "Question about the Marriott's Great Americas". I guess you just missed it. No biggie, I'll be back next year. And Jeff, I rode RB in the 3rd 6th and 7th rows and in row 7 I thought the float time was just awesome. Especially because I was expecting more of the 'ejector' type air.
Wow, if you liked Raging Bull that much in row 7, you would have LOVED it in row 9. It's *that* much better. The drop....ohhhh, the drop. Raging Bull is my #3, behing Millennium Force and SRoS at SFNE. It is ahead of Apollo's Chariot, Steel Force, Mamba, Wild Thing, and SRoS at SFDL, however. A truly great ride in row 9.

BTW, I was operating the Bull on the days you were there...how'd we do?

I was there in June and was fairly impressed with park op overall (save for Iron Wolf). It was refreshing to see adequate staffing on the platform for most coasters.
