SFGAm, 6/23, I WILL RETURN, I WILL!!!!!

Associated parks:
None

I had to leave the thrill ride adrenaline at home this past Sunday because my 7 year old daughter was with me. This was her day to enjoy what this great SF park has to offer. Got to the park about 1:00 because yours truly likes to sleep in on Sundays. I figured 8 hours was plenty. With my season pass, parking sticker, and a free ticket for my daughter, it didnt cost a penny to get in. LIFE IS GOOD!!!!!!
First ride of the day was Space Shuttle America. My daughter enjoyed the Dino-Island show last year so she was happy to check out the Space Shuttle show.

Next was Sky Trek Tower. OH MY GOD!!! WHATS THAT??? COULD IT BE DAVE??? YES, ITS THE CHICAGO SKYLINE ONCE AGAIN!!!! JUST MESSIN WITH YA BUDDY!!!!

O.K. Now it was time for the few coasters that she could ride. We hit Demon, than Viper, than Eagle forward, than Whizzer, than Viper again. She refused to do Spacely Sprockets because its boring to her. YES, SHE IS A THRILL NUT JUST 2 INCHES SHORT TO EXPERIENCE IT ALL!!!

Everytime I take my daughter, I truely realize how much there is to do besides coasters at this park. I actually am baffled and just think, WOW!! There is alot of sh-t to do here. In no particular order were the rides we frequented throughout the day.
Sky Trek Tower, Space Shuttle America, Triple Play, Hometown Fun Machine, Orbit, Chabasco, River Rocker, Fiddlers Fling, Loggers Run, Great America Raceway, Rue le Dodge, and Condor. We would have hit more but my daughter wanted to play in Looney Tunes Lodge for about 2 hours (by the way, I love this place, foam ball nuthouse is how I describe it)

One of the events during kids fest was the hoola hoop contest and my daughter won with about 4 other kids. She was just shaking her hips and keeping that hoop circling around her waste. I know I couldnt do that for that length of time.

For food we first stopped in Snowshoe Saloon for some Nachos, a beer for me, and a pretzel. The place was packed because it was nicely air-conditioned. They also had the Snowshoe Revue show going on stage. It was entertaining and the crowd was getting into it.
We also went to Farmers Market for some variety during dinner. I had some Andres Cheese Fries and my daughter had the foot long corn dog.

Well, my events didnt necessarily all happen in that order but you get the idea. I had a wonderful day (minus 6 coasters, ), but as long as my daughter was having a good time, thats all that mattered to me.

Thanks for reading.

Wow Chitown, Nice to see people are still having fun at this run down SF run hell-hole. ;)

I noticed Shockwave's yellow train was back up and running yesterday. They were testing it, so they had to run it empty, but that didn't stop our party from getting 6 consecutive rides without moving our butts. Lines were short throughout the entire afternoon and into the evening. One person from our group lost his cell phone on Deja Vu (second tower) and we were told to return after the ride closed. We were surprised to get it back in one piece. I'll be returning for my seventh trip to GAm this Wednesday and am looking forward to yet another good time.

I totally agree that going to a park with a child makes you realize how much more there is to do. I recently wrote my trip report about PKD and BGW. I had my 8 year old daughter with me on this trip and it was so much fun!! She is still too short to ride some of the major coasters, but it was so fun to see her ride the others. It was a very fulfilling trip just to see all of her excitement.

Now I am sort of feeling sad about going back next weekend without her. It just will not feel the same. (But I can do some power riding.) I look forward to our next trip together.

Great trip report!

You are a SFGAm-visiting machine, Chitown.

I am definitely getting my fix this season. :)

That is sooo cool Scott! I took my little one to fright fest last year and she had a blast in the Looney Tunes Lodge too! We were there for 4 hours..lol. I had a hell of a time getting her out of there. What she really had fun with was all the ghouls and monsters roaming around. She loved the trolls lol. It's soo cool seeing a child's face in the park for their 1st time isn't it!

Well, yes, the looks on your childs face is great at the park, but this is nowhere near her first time. Although she acts like it is everytime we go. :)

She just has about an inch and half to go and she will be at the magic height(for coaster riding) of 54" tall. Then I will really enjoy the look on her face when she is braving the likes of Raging Bull, Batman:TR, Iron Wolf, Deja-Vu, V2, and Shockwave.

Hey stooge, I will be taking my daughter down to IB hopefully within a couple of weeks. Any discounts out there that you know of?

If you're a Farm Bureau Insurance member there are certain days you can go and you can save $10.00 on the combo package, which I have the dates on my web site. I know that CVS Pharmacies have something going on too, but the deal escapes my memory right now. Also, talk to IB Dave as he might know more about the discounts and stuff. He maybe will send you a gate pass where you don't have to pay admission thru the gate. Hope this helps!

There's always the ace buy one get one free if you're a member. I am a frequenter of IB, being only 1 1/2-2 hrs away in good old Fort Wayne, IN. Enjoy IB, it's one of my favorite parks!
