SFGAm 6-7-01

Associated parks:
None

I realize this TR has been long in coming, but I was very busy this weekend.

The entire day was roughly 70 degrees and sunny non-stop.

Entered park at 9:50. Ran towards V2 only to be stopped at a chain blocking orleans place. Chain dropped, and I was off and running.

Got into line at V2 and waited a half hour to get on. The ride was without a doubt worth the wait, even though it can get up to two hours. The launch is incredible, as is the weightlessness on the twisting spike.

From V2 headed across the yankee harbor bridge to Iron Wolf. Excellent looper, even though it was B&M's first ever ride. I love that first drop into the loop. A little headbanging, but not that bad overall.

From Iron Wolf I headed to the Whizzer. I had a coasterphobe in my group, so it was for them. Definitely a fun jaunt for an after lunch ride or just a time-waster if you have only 15 min. left in the park. The helices are very fun.

From Whizzer, we went to logger's run. Fun and wet. From logger's run we went to roaring rapids. They added a waterfall before you enter the AIR CONDITIONED tunnel, I think. It was fun to get wet, but the op responsible for running the water cannons wasn't running them.

From there, went back to ride V2 again. To my chagrin, they have now began boarding passes, which ensure that there are no line jumpers. While I am all for this because it will help me get on quicker sans line jumpers, if you accidentally drop yours, then you can't ride. :(

From there we went to the Eagle. Wow. My first ride on it. Amazing. The floater hills were great. Had my arms up all of the time. A bit rough, in need of a retracking on the helix, but overall it was very bearable.

From the eagle, we went to the bull. Also my first ride on that. All I can say is that it was incredible. Bolliger and Mabillard are geniuses. The rolling stock was ever so comfortable, and the ride was smooth from start the finish. The turnarounds were great.

To finish out the block of rides before dinner, we went on Splashwater falls. Fun, and VERY VERY VERY wet. Ate dinner, and headed for the cars to settle our stomach.

After the cars, we headed to Viper. Six flags' in house design team truly hit the jackpot with this guy. It is jam-packed with airtime from start to finish. Soo much fun.

Wrapped up the night with one final ride on the eagle. As amazing as the ride was in daylight, it was double at night. Diving into that etherial white structure was, for lack of a better word, utterly thrilling.

Overall, there wasn't a wait for a ride over an hour. Every ride was fun from start to finish, and I can't wait to go again!

All right! Someone is saying the AE is great! It's been a while since I heard that. I agree with you on it that it is great. I could care less if it is braked after the helix, it is still a great ride, and IMHO, a very underrated coaster.

Glad you had a good time... I still have to wait a month and a half to go there.

V2 Fiend:
Which side of AE did you ride, red or blue? The last time I was there we rode the blue side and it was terrible. No air, no speed, no nothing. Talking with some people over the weekend they said the red side is running very well.

DEK. Yes, the blue side pretty much isnt worth riding. The red side for the most part is providing an awesome ride. The brakes on the barrel helix are very soft. For the most part, the red side from start to (almost finish, the final helix is braking hard) is providing a funfilled airtime experience. DO NOT RIDE THE BLUE SIDE!!!!!!

The waterfall for some reason has not been running the past two years every time I was at the park. Lets put it this way: V2 Feind went on it before, without the waterfall. Last time V2 feind went on it, the waterfall was on. If you havn't experienced it or heard about it, you think "Thats new!"

We went on both sides last July and I can tell you that we rode the red side first(which was great!), came back later to ride blue, and that side was pretty, well, I won't mind if it's closed next time. The Eagle does need to lighten up a little on the brakes. It wouldn't hurt anything. No ride on Shockwave or Demon Fiend? What time did you leave? SFGAm really has one of the best ride selections around. I can't wait to go again. Great TR.

Shhhhhhhh! everyone. American Eagle red can be our little secret. Let everyone else ride blue so the line is shorter for us!
