SFGAm 11/3/02 Closing Day

Associated parks:
None

I got to the park at 9:30. The parking lot was the emptiest I have ever seen it. When I went in the park, I noticed the pond in front of Colombia Carousel had fozen overnight. The employees wouldn't let us run, but as soon as we got to the split into Southwest Territory, everyone started running anyway.

Deja Vu was the first ride of the day. Rode in 1b. I was suprised to see it open at 10:00 since it didn't open until around noon most of Fright Fest.

Second ride of the day was American Eagle backwards. Great ride, hardly any brakes.

Next up was Batman. There was no line so they were letting people reride. Rode twice, row eight and row five.

After Batman, I had a very disappointing ride on Whizzer. The ride just isn't that great when there are no leaves on the trees.

Next, I went to Viper. Back row.

After that, I went to Raging Bull. Rode in row nine. Great ride. Trims were on but the mid-course was off.

After Raging Bull, I had lunch at the hot dog place by Deja Vu. Had a hot dog and coke and it only cost me $3.50.

Demon was next. Good ride. Sometime after I got off, they switched to one train operation.

Went on Iron Wolf to get a look at the track. Nothing really interesting.

I was very disappointed to find out that Sky Trek Tower and Condor were closed. That made it harder to get good photos of Shock Wave.

The rest of the day was rerides.

At quarter to six, I headed back to Raging Bull, row nine again. When I got off, I noticed that even though the park was closed, they hadn't blocked off the reride (Fast Lane) gate so I got on again. This time, I rode row 8. Got on the last train of the year. When we got back to the staion, they sent us around again.

Overall, a great way to end the season.

Hmmmmmmmm, so you were still getting Bull rides almost 4 hours after the park closed? Who are your connections? Come on , you can tell us? :)

Just kidding, this weekend was great to say the least.

2 superheroes in Gurnee next season? Oh the humanity. :)

when i went to sixflas in june when it raiend and they closed at 6 instead of 10 we went on raging bull 5 times in a row then to viper for 4 times . and of course after 530 it had stoped raing so we got to ride both an hour after park closed. but i did have a good time this weekend i went sunday.
It was a great day to be at the park. The only disappointment was Viper only running one train because the station house was pretty full which made for long lines. Other than that all the rides i had were walk ons and alot of re-rides.
I hope this is something they do every year. Was also nice as i got to meet several ACE members!!
bob o yep viper was the same sunday. and iron wolf they had 2 going for half the day and then only had one going .ace members whats that?
Acers are Members of A rollercoaster enthusiast club Called A.C.E American Coaster Enthusiasts They're the biggest club in the world. The membership fee is $50 annually.
Somebody else's trip report said that they had mechanical problems with the transfer track so that is they they only used one coaster.
they only used one train because it wasnt necessary to have all of them on. they would only be sending one train full of people so they took the other ones off. it has nothing to do with the transfer tracks not working. but keep in mind this is only what i think.
Well if you were at the park on Sunday with the station almost full with only one train, they needed the second train!!! The line barely moved at all and was the only line besides DeJuVue that i encountered!!
I was there and I agree Bob O they really needed that second train for Viper, I didn't even bother to wait for it since the line was moving so slow. Friday they didn't need the second train on Viper but on Sunday they really did.

Truth be told, I don't even think they needed that second train on Viper. Despite the slow moving line, I still only waited 15 minutes for it on Sunday.

Never Has Gravity Been So Uplifting.

saturday when i went the mecanics were working on vipers second train. to be honest i think they were just beating it with a big hammer, or at least thats what it sounded like.

p.s. got 12 rides on whizzer with out geting up,5 rerides on viper, 6 rerides on raging bull what an amazing day. that day alone was worth the season pass.

I'm still wondering if anyone read SFGAm Shock Wave's last second to last line:

Got on the last train of the year. When we got back to the staion, they sent us around again.

Did the "One More Time" line actually work, and at a Six Flags Park if that?

would you guys rather have waited 45 mins to an hr?? you should just be happy that it was only 15mins. geez stop complaining.

I agree with ericsson

Whoever went to the part that weekend has no right to complain...you basically had the park to yourselves.

And I sure hope you enjoyed it

All depends on the ride operators decision...wink wink wink! :)

SFGAm Viper or SFGAm Raging Bull in 2002

There was definitely a transfer track issue on Sunday. Mid-day they announced they were putting on the second train, the transfer track was moved over, then moved back again and the ride continued to only operate with just one train. I was standing in the station and watched it all happen. There were definitely enough people to continue to fill two trains.

And yes, asking for one more ride often works at Six Flags parks if you ask nicely. I've seen it work at SFGAm and SFGAdv.
