Six Flags Great America
November 1st 2002
I arrived to the park at around 6:15 after some heavy traffic on the tollway. Once inside I found a empty park, I was expecting to find Deja Vu to be closed since it was only in the low 30's I walked over there to see that the line was empty so I thought it was closed at first. I looked in the station and saw people on the train and noticed it was walk on.
Deja Vu - 13x
The ride was running great for being so cold and was running pretty fast too for being so cold. There was no line most the night! I rode pretty much every row and had some awesome rides.
Demon - 1x
The train was almost empty, the ride was running very slow after the mid course brakes. I was surprised we made it through the course it was going so slow. With it going so slow at the end the corkscrews provided some nice hangtime at the end.
Viper - 2x
Another walk on like everything else, it was only running 1 train tonight. I got my first front row ride in awhile on Viper tonight, it was great with lots of airtime. I think front row might become my new favorite row. It gave a better ride than row 1:3 did the first time I rode it tonight.
Raging Bull - 11x - I think I lost count
They ran 2 trains most of the night and went down to 1 train towards the end of the night. It was so empty they couldn't even fill that 1 train. I got so many rides tonight I lost count, the Raging Bull crew was nice and didn't make us walk around to get back on every time.
Eagle Backwards - 1x
Great ride, and another walk on. No trims like it was most of Fright Fest, we were really flying and the return hills provided some good airtime. Fun ride, and im going to miss it going backwards. I hope they decide to run it that way next year.
V2 - 1x
The ride op I knew tried to staple me, but it didn't work since my jacket was so big. Nothing special on this ride, and it seemed to break down alot tonight. I saw this break down more than Deja Vu tonight.
Iron Wolf - 1x
1 train operation on this ride, but it didn't need a second train. The ride ops were pretty funny, the one op jumped out of the box you place lose articles in and scared the crap out of some girls. The ride felt a little rougher than normal, probally because it was still cold but other than that it was a good ride.
Batman the Ride - 1x
This is the first time I have been to the park and all 3 B&M's ran with 1 trian at 1 time. But as I have said before they didn't need a second train. This ride was pretty much walk on too. Only a 1 train wait, this seems to be the only coaster that never has a slow day. The usual fast and intense ride it always gives.
This was probally one of the best days I have ever had at Six Flags. Its not that often you can get on Raging Bull and Deja Vu both without a line. I hope its like this again on Sunday when I return for the last day of the season.

OK....my two cents. This WAS a magical night at the park, but for a reason you didn't mention...Bull was basically running with no mid-course brakes!! The first time I rode the ride, I couldn't believe it, and had to stay on the train for a second straight ride to make sure. The second time, I heard the brake ever so faintly, but it really didn't slow down the train at all. And, no trims in the helix, either!!This was truly the Bull's "return to glory". Without those brakes, Bull is a fairly intense ride, and much better paced!
When I went to V2, there were only two other people in the station. And on the train I rode, there were only 6 people on the ride!!
I finally rode DV front row. (A whopping three train wait). It was running great, and it ran all night!! Great ride, about even with front.
I could've rode Gaint Drop all night without getting off. As it was, I only did it twice so as not to totally kill the thrill.
The only problem with a night like this, for me, is that I start feeling queasy after so many rides in such a short period of time.
Tonight felt like a thank you from the park to its season pass holders. Unbelievable.

Alright, would someone please tell me why nobody else had Magnum XL-200 as a name? Come on look when I added this name.

Oh...My...God.
I can not believe I'm stuck out here in Rock Island when there are WALK ON'S (or as close as possible) For DEJA VU! All you people who get to the park this weekend had better appreciate this (and ride one in Deja Vu's front seat for me!).
Don't worry SF Great American, I got a front seat ride for you. And DV was a TOTAL walk-on after 9 if you weren't choosy about your row.
Shockwave Freak, I was there when the ride broke down around 10 as well. But, as you said, it was only about a 5 minute break. Nothing to be concerned about there.
I also think it should be noted that the best coaster to Power Ride is Bull. Deja may be the best "one-shot" ride (in my book, anyway), but it's physically demanding to ride it consecutively, unlike Bull, which is glass.

Coasterdude -- You have an amazing love for coasters. After Friday night, I don't want to see another coaster for many many months. I am absolutely coastered out.
