SFGAm - 5/28/01 - Grrrrr

Associated parks:
None

I just got back home from SFGAm and I am ticked.

I got there early and ended up 7th in line for V2. It was not operating until12 Noon, but I waited because the park was packed and knew the line was gonna be bad all day anyways.

Well, I looked around for a test seat after hearing rumors about the restraints. There is none. I asked a ride op about the restraints and he responded, "Can you fit on Batman and Iron Wolf?" I responded yes and he said "Then you won't have any problems with these."

With that being said, I continued to wait. After they finally opened the ride, I went for the front row and waited a few trains for my turn. I hop into the seat, and lo and behold, I can't get the freaking seatbelt to latch and the ride op wouldn't give the restraint a push. So I had to exit the ride. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!

After leaving V2 in a grumpy mood, I waled the loop past Batman, Eagle, Raging Bull, and Viper and all the lines were INSANELY long. So I went home with ZERO rides for the day.

Hey REDMAN822,
You MUST have someone with you to push down on the restraint. The ride ops are NOT allowed too. Bring someone with you next time. Drop me an email the next time you want to go to SFGAM I will try to get you into V2. Hopefully we can find at least one other person because I need help to ride it too.

What is life without it's ups and downs
I wonder how many of these stupid incidents are going to happen before the parks request new trains. It sounds like a lot of people are getting the boot from this ride. That really sucks, I know what it's like to not fit on a ride that really looks cool- I didn't fit on ultra twister at Astroworld. I hope I fit on V2 at marine world!

Had same problem also. I can get on every coaster in the park except V2. I was also ticked that I had to exit the ride. Let me know when you guys are going to go. I will be happy to help out and get help to ride this freakin thing.

Jeremy: Sunday my friend!! I shal be there pushing until you get in! :)
We were there on Sunday (5/27) and I had a hard time getting into V2 even though I have no problem with B:TR. The seats on V2 are definitely smaller. However, the ride op did try very hard to get me in and one other op came over to help --a little. In the end I took of my jacket which had a folded poncho in it and this helped. I've also found it helps if if I take my wallet out of my back pocket. I know this doesn't sound like much but an extra inch or two can make the difference.

Well, before I went on, I heard they were really small, but still waited to ride. When I got on, I could not believe how small they actually were! But when push came to shove(pun intended), they got me in. I felt like one of the 350 pound people that we can't let on Batman.... not good!
Is it a problem with the seats and restraints or is it a problem with peoples weight? I can't see them redesigning the seats for someone who is overweight.
well let me tell ya this.. i went on viper last year,, I'm 5'10" 180lbs... had a problem getting the lap bar of all things to latch right..lol. let me tell ya that i had plenty of air time!!! I was at least 6" off of my seat the whole ride. all the ride op did was just barely touch the lap bar to check it!.. i thought i was going to die!
oh yeah, this was at SFGAM.

It appears it may be a problem with the seat design. While waiting in line, we were talking with a teenage girl who had ridden S:UE and was very excited for the chance to ride V2; but she had to get off because she didn't fit and, while slightly overweight, she wasn't fat. I don't remember having any problem getting onto S:UE last year but I did have a problem with V2. Of course I may have put on a few pounds since last year. :)
