SFGADV Trip Tips

I am making my first trip out to New Jersey on July 6 for the week, and am trying to plan a trip to Great Adv.

I want to go to the Sports Festival, so that leaves Wednesday and Thursday......is there really a better day to go? Or is the sports festival going to make the park more crowded? Which means I should go on Tuesday?

What are the best rides to hit in the morning, afternoon, night...etc.

Which rides are musts and which are just poo?

Any flat rides that are fun or great places to eat.

Coasters best to use the Lo-Q system on, or to use the system at all?

Any help is GREATLY appreciated, and thanks in advance!

Welcome back riders, how was your ride...Enjoy your day, here at Cedar Point, America's roller coast.

Im not sure if the park will be crowded for the sports festival. Sorry.

Hit the Chiller first and last. Usually before closing there is no line, but I cant guarantee it. Hit Batman The Ride second, Nitro Third and then go over to Medusa, GASM, Rolling thunder and Viper.

Medusa, Nitro, Batman the Ride and The Chiller are absolute musts. I am a huge fan of GASM so hit that. All of the rides are worth at least one ride, even Viper.. It gives quite a unique experience. If the line is long for Skull Mountain, dont bother.

Theres great flat rides, but most are closed. The Huss Frisbee + Topspin are nice, Chaos, Houdini's Escape and the Huss Breakdance near Viper. A good place to eat is HBO Backlot (if you like pizza). It has pretty good food! Pretty much everywhere though, the food is overpriced and average.

Lo-Q is not set up, and no one will knows when it will be. Thats about it. Have a great time! Oh and, Nitro gives the best Airtime in rows 1-3. Back gives nice airtime too. Medusa must be experienced in the front seat as well as the chiller.

nitro and medusa move lines quick hit them after btr and the chiller

I just want to ride as many coasters as posible

You can get on Nitro anytime of the day because the lines go by fast just make sure you hit Chiller & B:tr before there is any lines because they move slow. Medusa lines move fast also.

I'm planning to go to SFGAdv tomorrow (Tuesday) and I know what I plan to do. . .

Scream my guts out on Skull Mountain!

It's the forgotten roller coaster, so there's never a line. Every time I go to great adventure I ride it at least 5 times and scream "I want my mommy!" or "Turn on the lights!" Everyone looks at me like I'm insane, but it's worth it. Have a great trip!

P.S. Nitro is the best coaster ever built.

The general story behind the otherwise AMAZING collection of flats at SFGAdv.....*someday* I hope to get on Evolution before it is removed/replaced.....strange how they have PLENTY of staffing for the shops and the upcharges, hmmmmm.

Welcome to the Cedar Point skyride....we'll take you up 50, drop you down 30, all at an amazing speed of 6 miles per hour....we won't see you back unless you make the return trip!

Yeah, its crazy. You know, from reading other message boards, I seem to be one of the only people that has ridden Evolution, Jumpin Jack Flash and Space shuttle.. The first 2 are amazing and I just wish they were open more.

You have to watch out for the flats there, as I think they tend to open 'em in shifts. Of what remains, the notable flats are:

Huss Breakdance (Rodeo, I think) - it's right beside Viper, and an awesome ride.

Huss Jump (Jumpin' Jack Flash) - The Best Flat Ride ever (nearly), as far as I'm concerned. I think it has a bad habit of blowing out drive motors, though. That'd be my relatively uneducated guess.

Vekoma Mad House (Houdini's Great Escape) - These rides rock. The sensations you get are fantastic, and it's fun to play along.

Huss Frisbee (Pendulum) - Another awesome flat ride from Huss. Ride it at night, and the ops will usually turn the lights off and let the sequence run for a tad longer.

There's also a Chaos, which I don't like, Evolution, which won't be open, and a Top Spin, which is nothing compared to a Super Loop on Top.

Skull Mountain is a nice back seat ride with a great pop of airtime. The rest is a figure-eight, almost.

Nitro is a back seat ride, of course.

Batman the Ride is intense.

Medusa is nice in the Zero-G roll and just plain fun.

Chiller is awesome, so long as you don't have to wait long for it. I wouldn't wait more than a few minutes.

Hope you have fun :)

Another piece of advice I could use as I am considering possibly not going to the sports festival is........what is the best day: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday to go to the park? Thanks again in advance!
