SFGAdv Fright Fest Info

Well well well...looks like this year is finally gonna be a good one at SFGAdv's Fright Fest.

As you know, the previous few years have been terrible. Nothing was scary, and there was an extreme shortage of zombies wandering the park...to the point where there were none last year.

This year, they seem to be on a mission to change all of that, though. What I'm gonna do is post each event with my thoughts under it.

NEW! Monster Bash - A live band playing popular Halloween tunes on the Lakefront stage.

OK, this seems like a good idea. Finally a new show for Fright Fest. I'll probably make a stop to check it out.

NEW! It Came From The Lake - Fireworks extravaganza featuring a massive water screen showing vintage horror flick footage.

This seems like a great idea for fireworks. It'll renew my interest in staying late to watch them.

NEW! Terror Trails - Dark, foggy and mysterious paths will be found in the Old Country, Lakefront and Main Street sections of the park. Creepy things are lurking around every corner!

FINALLY!!! Something SCARY! Terror Trails....the return of fright zones!!! THERE IS A GOD! I cannot tell you how happy this makes me. I was extremely disappointed in their performances lately because it lacked anything that was remotely scary. Hopefully this will be the end of that.

NEW! Fearanoia - Fear meets paranoia in one wicked mind game of survival. Guests who elect to play the game will receive a wristband with a number. Throughout the evening "bodybaggers" will tag guests adding them to a list of "walking dead" (those eliminated from the game.) At the end of each evening, a "survivor board" will be posted at the exit gates. Guests with surviving numbers will win a 2003 Six Flags season pass!

I had heard about this before. I didn't get all of the details, but this pretty much sums it up. Seems like a good idea. I'll definitely be signing up every night I'm there. I wonder what exactly they do to you when they catch you. They have to do something other than "tag" you. Seems like a fun way to spend the night.

NEW! Circus Psycho will change the Boardwalk section of the park into a demented circus filled with side show freaks.

Seems like a good idea. I'm not sure though...I've never been a fan of sideshow things. Maybe this will turn out to be another scare zone which is an instant plus in my book.

NEW! Looney Tunes Scream-port - The nautical seaport for little ghouls will offer a trick-or-treat trail featuring Bugs Bunny and his Looney Tunes friends -- full of Halloween-themed fun but free of ghastly ghouls!

Good idea for the little kids. I remember them doing this type of thing in the past with tents set up by the stunt show arena. Didn't turn out too well. Hopefully with the new location inside the Seaport, it'll get more traffic.

Dead Man's Party - A red-hot, live "dance party" featuring the sights and sounds of an alternative, un-dead rock 'n roll Halloween party.

Same old, same old. Basically an even crappier Beetlejuice show. Don't waste your time.

Hayride to the Unknown, "The Nightmare Returns" - This popular attraction will feature entirely new screams around every corner, as riders take a dark journey into the subconscious.

While the hayride has become a horrid, pathetic attempt to scare people, I hope that they do a good job with it this year. Years past, it's been a laughable attraction as the people in it don't even try to scare you at all. They just stand and stare. Nothing scary at all. There was no longer a guy jumping at you with chainsaws, nothing leaping from the trees, nothing popping out to scare you. It's just been zombies staring at you, expecting you to be scared. Never works, though. Hopefully they redesigned the hayride and it will be good this year. Oh, and MAYBE it will contain actualy HAY again, instead of Benches. This is really Benchride Into The Unknown.

Hypnosteria - Amazing mentalist/comic hypnotist Denny More exercises his power of suggestion on audience participants in the Showcase Theater.

Always a fun show to watch. I actually went up once, but it didn't affect me. I still make a side trip to see this show whenever I can. The way people act on the stage is so hilarious. Highly recommended.

Elvira's Superstition - A hilarious, multi-sensory simulated adventure ride.

BOO!!! HISSSSSSSSSSSS!!! GET RID OF IT!

Bad Bob the Bone Butcher - Venture to the wild west with a wacky band of outlaws, as they attempt to put an end to Bad Bob's terror streak.

Finally! The return of the Wild West comedy show! I can not begin to tell you how much I missed these shows. When they got rid of them, I was angry. It was such a funny show and it was a great loss to the chain. I can't wait to see what they have in store for us with this one.

Well, that's it so far. All can be found on the official site.

I will be there on the 6th, if anyone else is planning on going. Hope to see you there!
