SFGAdv: First Time

Hey guys, I'm heading out to Great Adventure next weekend and I was just wondering about crowds this time of year, where to eat, and any other general suggestions. Thanks!

Two places I tend to eat are Best of the West, across the bridge over the log flume, and the Pizza place in the corner near Batman. General Suggestion go with the running of the bulls to Kingda Ka if it is not on the closed rides sign wait for the past few weekends has topped at about 2 hours including down time for it, and make sure to hit Nitro as late as possible in back row for the best ride I have found on it. Rolling Thunder will be closed due to the construction of the new woodie. Hope these help.

Watch the tram car please....

Ill actaually be there next sat :).

First off if you want to get rides in get a qbot. I say actually try to get a gold one but its 100 dollars for 2 people.

Second if you dont get a qbot i feel really sorry for you.

It will be packed more then normal because of fright fest .

Fright fest starts at like 6 or 7 pm . Each coaster starting at like 2 oclock has hour long waits during fright fest .

It will be really busy so unless you get gold qbot you will be waiting an awful lot. so i suggest going at opening then stayinmg all day and waiting for fright fest so when ff starts u wait for the ff rides

Skull Mountain, back row. Hold on.
You don't really need a qbot, and for pete's sake have fun. The crowds will be lighter than the summer. If Ka is open I'd say do that first. It was closed when I went this summer. Nitro never had more than a 30 minute line. Try hitting Chiller first (after Ka I suppose) because of the low capacity. Then do Batman, Nitro, wait a bit for Superman and do Medusa and Scream Machine. I'd also recommend Rolling Thunder. Despite all the *****ing about it, it's actually a pretty good ride. Do erUPtion if it's back open. This summer my longest wait was 40 mins for Superman, so it's all doable.
willh51 how can you possibly say that during fright fest lines will be less then the summer?

have you been to the park during fright fest ?

everytime i have been to fright fest about 2pm the lines get really long and are about an hour for every coaster.

remember ff starts next weekend the weekend he is going.

Frightfest is probably there busyiest time of the year .

the park gets really crowded .

Have fun. Like drogon said, RT is closed. If it was open, you could've gotten a real cool picture of KK from the top of the lift, like I did. KK is worth t whatever the wait, I waited 7 hours. Front seat is the best, if you get to do it. Wait, even if it's a long time. Nitro is best in the back at the middle of the night. Batman and Robin the Chiller and Superman are also great night rides.

You don't need a bot. Not worth it.

The best advice I could give you is get there early and ride KK and SUF right away and then you can enjoy the rest of the park.
on the food part of the question:

Unless you're horribly against Chinese Food, there's a place called "Wok N' Roll" right next to skull mountain. It's just about all I eat when I'm in the park.. I'll hit up Skull Mountain once or twice depending on the line, and then grab lunch there. (Oh, and I generally don't eat more than lunch at the park... big breakfast before I go to the park, and then stop somewhere the prices are reasonable on the way home for dinner)

Agreed. Get there 1/2 hour BEFORE they open, enter the park and go as far as the barriers will allow. Once they raise them, go straight for KK and hit it as many times as you can before the line gets too long. You should be able to get in at least 2 rides in the first hour or two. Then, hit Superman since this will be the other major attraction with a long line .... a lot of it due to slow ride ops. Medusa's line should be fairly short (It was a walk-on for me when I went on a Saturday). Nitro's line moves fast so you probably won't wait too long for that. The Chiller's line is slow so that may be the first one you want to hit when you get to that side of the park. Plan it right and you should have an enjoyable day.
