SFGA 5/4/02 (more stories than report)

Associated parks:
None

I got off of work at 5 and it takes me an hour to get home. the park closed at 8:00 so there was very little time to ride and this thread, as the title suggusts, is more the stories than a trip report. I met some friends at 6:00 and we were at the park by seven. wow, a whole hour to ride, lol!

Batman was first and what a great first ride for the season. intense as ever with a nice pace throughout the line.

next was Deja Vu. we got in line with like ten minutes to spare. the line wasn't too bad as part of the queue was closed. someone had a Millennium Force shirt on that I noticed. was anyone wearing a MF shirt in the Deja Vu line around closing? then the horror story started from the people we met up with at the park.

they rode DV for the first time earlier in the day when it stalled on the first tower. they were hanging face down for quite some time. that got everyone nervous enough. half way through the queue, most of the party left so it was me and one of my friends who was really scared to ride this thing. it broke down when we were underneath the butterfly turn thing but we got on in the back row, outside seats.

what a great experience coming down that first tower! that was the best part with the rest of the ride being pretty nice. those seats give a nice view also. this is a must ride, but not necessarilly a must re-ride.

this trip also provided a pic for me so check it out. the person standing next to me was the one friend who stuck it out for me. hopefully I'll get up there this coming weekend also.

I saw it get stuck vertically in the afternoon. It wasn't too long, they were there for only a few minutes, 5 at most. They were stuck for about 2 minutes, then they came down a little ways, with most of the cars still vertical, then froze again for a few seconds, and just kept doing that until they were out of sight (I was standing at Viper's exit's store's front. I can't get many more possessive nouns in that, can I? ;) Thats why it went out of sight.)

Did you see me in DV's line? I was wearing a Gwazi t-shirt and cap.

When did American Eagle get more airtime than Viper?

well I didn't get all of the details of how they were stuck, but I know that the guy in the group was having...difficulties. he rode in the outside seat so he was able to push against the inside seats to keep from...crushing...certain objects, but it wasn't an experience he wanted to repeat.

no, I missed you.
