Volare, is yes, a flying coaster. Only they are single karts holding 4 passengers each.
Just to add, 9news did a story on it about a week ago, that pretty much confirms they are getting it also.

2002 - the year of LoCoSuMo!!

At first it was supposed to go behind Twister II but now I guess it is going behind the Batman Stunt Show. I guess during the offseason they had discovered some issues with building the ride behind Twister. By following the method of less work, going behind the Batman Arena was chosen. The parking lot has been torn up, where the coaster is going to go.

Does anyone know when the ride is scedhuled to open? And does anybody know if costruction has started yet?
Because if it is going to open opening day than they are going to have to start construction pretty quick here.

There is no way that it will open on opening day.
sixflags.com updated the ride list, they finally removed Western Roundup (RIP) and the Thunder Roads Demolition Derby from the list.

This is the flyer from Zamperla right?
If so IMO it has potential to be a better ride than the Veks and Air. Skytrak was a single car flyer protoyped here in the UK, and I think was much better than both Air and Stealth.
There's a page on Skytrak on my site:www.colinm.com

Skytrak was that Meisho/something prototype before they built Birdman. To tell you the truth, the ride doesn't compare to Batwing,X-Flight,Air,S:UF, or even Stealth. There are no true inversions, little speed, and rediculous restraint system. Volare should be pretty good, but not nearl as good as the B&M flyers. I wouldn't even want to try to get in those seats, but the ride looks nice(note to Zamperela, add more inversions than two simple barre rolls.)
Also, the largest looping coaster in Europe is Dragon Khan, not Magnum Force. Paramount never claimed to have the world's first flying coaster, they said they have the world's only true flying coaster(which was after Skytrak and Birdman went dormant.) Why Paramount Great America still says this, even after four other flying coaster have been built, I haven't a clue.
here's the link from ECC...I keep their site on my favorites for coaster sites, certainly a much more "online" group than ACE is at present.

I think the ride will be great! The question I have is, "will the cars swing like a suspended?" If so, that would be fantastic on a flyer, if not, still a great addition to the park.
Finall, I am currently using my mousepad which clearly states that Stealth was "The World's ONLY Flying Coaster". At the time, I believe it was...
I agreee that it will probably not be open by opening day, which I believe is the weekend of April 23rd. My guess is that it will be open by the time that they are open full time, so probably around mid may to early June. Look on the bright side, this is the ride that was in Italy, so at least there souldn't be many bugs to work out of it. Unlike another protorype at another Six Flags park. :-) Anyway, it should be a fun ride, a good addition to SFEG. It will be a good family-type coaster that should be gente enough for smaller kids, but still have enough thrills to satisfy us enthusiaists. It is a very good move for SFEG.
I tried to go over to SFEG saturday to see what was going on, but I didn't want to pay the 10 bucks to get into the parking lot because of the basketball tourney at Pepsi Center. I'm happy that footers are supposedly being poured though.

Vertigo- not to flame but to converse with different points of view!
About the Paramount claim- They do!, it's the 3-D logo over the entrance of Stealth-World's first Flying Coaster.
Birdmen- dormant? I only heard about the crash recently, and dormant is even newer news to me. Skytrak! - I compare it with the Dutchmen, and Air cause it IS (well, was!) a flying coaster. Being single cars, I'm getting at the 'flying mouse' aspect of both this and the Volare. And having ridden the FD, B&M, and Skytrak, let me tell you not as a thrillseeker, but as someone who has been marvelling rollercoaster designs for 20 years, that (subject to the usual IMO!) Skytrak was a better ride!
OK the design had its flaws re capacity, but, neither it nor Air gathered much speed, (all the usual flying, not thrilling bs accepted!). Anyway, without the speed, Air does not make you feel like you are flying, neither does Stealth, Skytrak was much more like flying.
Millenium Coaster, (Magnum?) was "billed" as Europe's largest looper when it opened.
To get things back on topic, maybe we can agree that this flyer looks more promising for the 'flying' experience we're looking for?
Regards,Col.
