SFDL, what do you think?

MPD your exactly right. I don't even need to see a huge coaster. I was so excited that FINALLY we got a new ride this year and very appreciative of the fact that we got Shipwreck Falls which was a great addition.

-----------------
As the coasters get bigger so do the queue lines

I really don't know why Six Flags hasn't built anything there since Superman. As MPD47 said with a new casino being built you would think that would add a new coaster. There is plenty of space for a new coaster to be built, and if they added a new coaster I would hope they wouldn't take any down so that would add to the coaster count. I like the Beaver Brothers restaurant except they charge a lot more than some of the concessions (which I think the food is the same quality). I don't expect a new coaster till atleast 2004 or 2005.

Also Western New York isn't losing population were in the world did you get that from?

I live in Rochester,NY and our population is growing, and so is Buffalo.
--------------------------------------------------

Actually Buffalo is losing population. In and around 1960' 1970's Buffalo had a population of 670,000, now the city barely hits 300,000. I am from Buffalo originally, look it up. As far as Rochester is Concerned it may be growing, but I know Buffalo isnt.

PCW has a lot more to offer than SFDL BTW. Vortex and Minebuster alone are worth the trip!

There is also talk in Rochester about a Fast Ferry from Toronto to Rochester, as a matter of fact it was just recently finalized so that is going to happen.

I wouldn't go around and preach that word too much I just went to PCW in Sept and the park was in total disarray people smoking in line and the rides were not up to par. On the other hand SFDL is a very well maintained park with a great hyper. PCW on the other hand a rough couple of "woodies" and a suspended coaster that has lost it's touch, you be the judge.

P.S.: I'am not trying to start a flaming war, just the facts.

Darienlakefan...

I've never been to PCW... but I've been to Darien Lake a bazillion times. All I hear from people who visited wonderland is praise. Great theming, excellent rides, and just an overall pleasant atmosphere. They have one of THE most original collection of flat rides in the world, and it's about to get even more original with next season's new flat rides. Every year, at least one major new ride, and the park has a sense of beauty... plus 12 coasters is nothing to laugh at, even if a few are sub-par.

As for Darien Lake, you can complete it in less than half a day. The layout is a horseshoe, which is a little annoying when you are by the Mind Eraser and have to walk about 15 minutes to get to the only exit. The park is indeed clean & well kept with great flowers & landscaping (for what there is... but there is a somewhat lack of it). The problem is the bathrooms... they're disgusting. Only 1 or 2 of them are half-way decent. The rest, I wouldn't even walk within 10 feet of them!

The other problem is the lack of anything to do there. It sometimes gets hard to kill time until 10pm when the laser show starts. Your choices on something to do runs out quickly when there's only 1 show really worth watching (Batman), and no true water-park anymore. The coasters also get a little tedious... because there's only 5, and two are clones... and a third coaster is a little bumpy.

My assement of PCW was of the last trip I made to the park I've been attending this park since '91 every summer.

The park is not what it used to be, although there are a lot of coasters at the park doesn't mean that they are good coasters or "Rerides". There is great theming with the Top Gun SLC also with the Stunt Tower, But Don't be fooled by the coaster count at this park.

SFDL doesn't have the same coaster count as PCW but, Where there is lack of quanity it makes up for it in Quality.

Mind Eraser & Boomerang are quality? Predator in its current state is quality? BRAIN TEASER is quality?!?

Umm... I think you better re-think that!

SFDL is a great park and if worked on could be even better. But six flags is too busy using SFWoA to compete with CP and they could care less about SFDL. If only SF wasn't run by a bunch of idiots.

-----------------
Six Flags, the only chain of parks that can manage to have stacking with a one train operation.

I think at SFDL the only ride worth waiting over half an hour is Superman. C'mon thats the only fully decent coaster there is. The rest of the rides do not make up in quality. The Predator hurts your neck from time to time, The Boomerang is way too short and not fun at all, The Viper is alright and the Mind Eraser is bumpy.

[complain mode off]

The only reason why I ever go to SFDL is S:RoS, we need a new coaster

-------------------------------------------------
So how is that different from almost any other park in the country??

Okay so as far as coasters go S:ROS is a great hyper, that PCW cant compare with, and SFDL looper is better than PCW. PCW has a cool standup, a great suspended, a mouse and an indoor mine train , Darien lake doesnt have that. Then you got all the family coasters, silver streak, Taxi Jam, Ghoaster Coaster that SFDL doesnt have. Plus both parks have Vekoma SLC's and Boomerangs.

Woodies at PCW are minebuster, wilde beast. At SFDL there is Predator. All three of these woodies have gone downhill, but PCW's are still better than the predator. Now if the predator ran like it did when it first opened I would have to change my opinion.
Oh and the flat selection at PCW is way better, you got almost all what SFDL has, plus cliffhanger, shockwave, psyclone, oh yeah and i love the Giant enterprise Sol Loco. Plus PCW has Drop zone, does SFDL?? There's the facts for you!

OOOOooooooohhh!! Guess you told me, maybe I should just keep my opinions to myself. NOT!

I would get into this whole PCW vs. SFDL thing, but my position would be more than a little biased, and kind of obvious. It's not worth the effort.

So to get to the point, I would love to see Darien Lake get more stuff of any kind. When I was there last, it was a nice park, but just not enough stuff to do. Another nice big steel coaster would go great with Superman. Or how about a new woodie near the back? Would certainly make up for Predator... (Don't get me started on that). The one pet peeve of mine is Superman's station... there's a huge bottleneck at the entrance, for all the people getting in line for the back. But yeah, I hope Six Flags starts pumping more money into the park, the more coasters near me the better...
