SFAW TWO new rides!

Speaking of which, did anyone else notice that Diablo Falls and SWAT are gonna be blindingly bright? TT was bright, but god, that animation nearly blinded me. With Warp 2000, SWAT, and Diablo Falls, they've eliminated the need for lights in Mexicana.

It's coming.
03.08.03

Guess that they're trying to save some $$$ by brightening the rides upm while not paying for lighting/electricity so that they can build that coaster that people will complain about later ;), lol!

And while we're on the subject of VALID complaints, what's with SFI and their names lately? Swat, Scream!? Heck I'm waiting for a B&M Verticle Drop named "Drop!!!" to come soon, or a Stand up named "Stand"(or "Sit", now that would be more origional;))

Now that our "Nutty Buddy" is back, I guess I'll have to change this...

The fact is, (and this has been said a million times before), if SF doesn't believe that adding a new coaster to Astroworld will make a solid return on their investment, they won't do it! I think that for the moment, that is their way of thought.

However- adding SWAT and the rapids ride will certainly help to get families and thrillseekers into the park. I would go as far as to say that their additions will generate increased attendance at the park (that is the point, isn't it?)

If attendance goes up in a manner that impresses SF corporate, they may very well go ahead with a new coaster for SFAW, reasoning that there is a justified customer base to spend a large sum of money on the park.

Will it be a shiny new B&M or Intamin? Hard to say... In fact, I wouldn't get hopes up about the possibility of such an addition. But if attendance does go up, I know that I wouldn't be surprised to see a coaster added in some form or another.

Just a friendly economics lesson from CoasterFanMatt...

I've never been to SFAW, but from what I've heard it's pretty empty. I doubt that an Intamin or B&M would help attendance a whole lot, but a smaller one of a kind (Arrowbatic) would probably bring in big family crowds I think.

Ninja - how would you know an Arrowbatic would be a good addition? Seems quite telling that this coaster model, which has been on the market for a few years, has yet to find a buyer. The Arrowbatic is dead, people...get over it already!

Moosh- who always laughs when people suggest a ride w/o having ridden it.

Yeah, really. Besides, Astroworld doesn't want some dippy low capacity wild mouse coaster. They've got Ultra Twister already.
Your average sunny day on a Houston summer...

911 Operator: Houston 911, what seems to be the problem, sir?

Fierce Pancake: Help! Help me! Heeeeelp!

911: Ok, calm down, sir. What seems to be the problem?!?

FP: I'm dying! I'm dying!!

911: Sir, you need to CALM DOWN or else we can't help you. Now WHAT IS THE PROBLEM?

FP: It's Six Flags! I'm suffering severe depression due to the fact that Astroworld hasn't gotten one single original coaster since the 80's. And even that was just a crappy suspended that wouldn't thrill a three-year-old! AAHHGGG!!! I can't stand it!

911: Ok, ok, I understand. Are there any sharp objects in your house? Or guns?

FP: I'm on the roof now! I'm gonna jump!

911: Don't do it! I have help on the way! You've got everything to live for. There's Beemers at Fiesta Texas. And what about that Schlitterbahn? huh?

FP: Beemers? Fiesta? I have to drive six f***ing hours to ride just one Beemer! And even longer to ride a hyper. Christ help me, I'm gonna do it!!!

911: Ok, ok, I have word that help is on the scene. You'll be alright.

FP: Blurp. Blurp. AAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!! ...

911: ::urgently makes phone call:: Chuck? Is that you?

Chuck Hendrix: Hello! Thank you for calling Six Flags Astroworld, the world's premiere amusement park. How can I help you?

911: Chuck, stop f***ing around. I just got another call. Isn't there anything you can do?

CH: Well, for the first time in nearly two decades, Six Flags AstroWorld, Houston's premier family entertainment complex, will add not one, but two incredible new rides in a single season!

911: Yeah, you've only told us that like 57 times already. Seriously, Chuck, you're breakin' my balls here.

CH: Six Flags AstroWorld is the ONLY place in the world where you can experience these two unique,
all-new rides, along with nine fierce roller coasters, innovative shows...

911: Breakin' my balls, Chuck...

CH: ...the park's already impressive line-up of exciting rides makes visiting Six Flags AstroWorld in 2003 an absolute must.

911: Listen you a**hole, how many more lives will it take before you have some mercy on these people? God d*** you Chuck, don't you care at all? These people haven't had a new coaster in decades! Decades, Chuck! That's lots of tens of years! I can't keep dealing with all the meyhem you're causing! Please, for the sake of humanity...

CH: Diablo Falls' brightly hued slides and boats stand in vivid contrast against the park's tropical landscape like a multi-colored serpentine river...

911: I hate you.

Meanwhile...

Fireman: Don't do it, man! You have so much to live for!

FP: ::jumps:: Ouch! ::realizes he just jumped off the roof of his dog house:: Umm, ohh, well, I guess we'll just have to wait until next year...

This sad tale brought to you by the cruel b******s at Six Flags. But , hey, I'm glad you're getting something!
Chin up, and keep on truckin'!

I think i am the only person in the world who is absolutely unimpressed by the SkySwatter.

To me it just looks like a Top Spin without any gondola flipping.

Interesting that the first S&S attempt at a flatride is immediatly bought by SF. It was probably sold ultra cheap in order to throw a ride on the market. Just think how long it took HUSS to get their giant ride program going on the market.

Mondial, Nauta Bussink, Chance Morgan and now even Intamin are offering sensational, big and thrilling flatrides with amazing theming possibilities, all with proven and tested "turn-key service". I just wonder why they are going for a relatively "naked" prototype design whith little movement variation.

Sky Swatter has a sensational look, its big. But i do not find hanging upside down for extended time big fun. Like the above post says, its a top spin (a ride i do not care for for that reason) with less options, meaning more hanging upside down.

Nelson - that was outstanding! And knowing how seriously FP takes Astroworld probably not far from the truth.

Super 7 - according to those who have ridden the prototype in Utah you are *not* hung upsode-down for long moments on Swat. It is an entirely different sensation than a Top Spin.

You know, I'm the one who is not complaining about the swatter and whitewater rapids ride. I think they are good additions for the park.

You guys are retards.

And the swatter does not hang you upside down, whoever was worried about that. It's a continuous motion that doesn't stop in the the inverted position.

To quote one AstroWorld manager "We're damned if we do, we're damned if we don't. If we did add a coaster, people would complain about what type or color it is."

And it's true. Grow the **** up people. You're starting to make being a coaster enthusiast not FUN anymore.

I think they're what one may refer to as 'special.'

I sure don't, Mr. Hat. Themeparks are a HOBBY of mine, not my entire life. I think the only person that can actually get to claim themeparks are his entire life and get away with it is Gary Slade (that doesn't actually work for an amusement park or a ride company).
