SFA 7/6/01 Bad Luck

Associated parks:
None

I had the worst luck today at SFA. I arrived at the park around 5 and went straight to Batwing. It had rained earlier and they were just reopening Batwing as I arrived so I jumped into line. The line moved somewhat fast. I was amazed at how fast the dispatch times were. After about an hour and a half of waiting I was finally in line for row 2 ready to be on the next train. Just as I was about to get on, we heard thunder and then saw some lightning. So we all had to back up to the entrance of the station and wait another hour before they could open the ride back up. During the delay mechanics were working on the other train on the other side of the station. They were raising and lowering it. I would expect to see a 2 train operation for Batwing very soon. So after about an hour, they did 2 test runs and I was on. Leaning back in the station was pretty freaky. The ride is amazing. It is totally worth the wait. After the ride it was about 8:45, so I took a quick hop on S:ROS, which had no line. So I would have been on Batwing in 1.5 hours, but with my luck it was 2.5 hours. I'll be back to SFA to ride Batwing again. It alone is worth the trip.

That sucks. Are X-flight and Batwing ever going to have the two trains running without any problem?

"Pootie Tang!"
I sure hope so because then the line will move much quicker. Once all three trains are up and running I would expect the line to be no longer than an hour long on crowded days.

Take flight on Batwing in 2001
X-Flight is running two trains.
well as long as batwing hasn't broken down then I'm a happy rider,I will be at sfa tommorow and I'll hopefully get my first ride on batwing tommorow.by the way are they still opening batwing late in the day or early like the other rides and is dare devil dive open yet?
Batwing will not open before 2pm. Why? Because Vekoma said so! Seriously though, the V engineers onsite want the early hours to work and train with the ride so they wont let the park open it to the GP until after 2pm. When the engineers leave, Batwing will open with the rest of the park.

And yes Dare Devil Dive (which seems to actually be called "SkyCoaster") is open (though I dont know how much it costs).

Mongoose is right, X-Flight had two trains running as of two weeks ago when I was there. VERY unusual way to double-train, what with the dual loading platforms and the "switches" reminiscent of old railroads. Better than the Original, X-Flight rocks! Definitely my fav SF park, I just wish it was less than 1000 miles away.
well pending any problems tommorow then at around 2pm or afterwards a batwing we shall ride!we will just hang around at s:ros and the minute we see any public action we'll make a bee line for batwing.
BTW, BWFSFA, even with the queue completely full, with one train running (barring any 'technical difficulties') the line is one hour and a half. That's all. (Yes, I waited that long for ride number 15)

Well they said that the engineers would be gone in a couple of weeks (before your visit). However, they also said they would have 2-train operation on the fourth.

As for FASTLANE, the advertisements in the park say that only Two-Face, ROAR and S:ROS are available for FASTLANE. However, some visiting enthusiasts said they got tickets for Wild One and Mind Eraser as well (and I saw they had a Joker's Jinx row closed off too. I dont know why though as JJ NEVER has a line) But in any case, *IF* there is a FASTLANE that you can get, GET IT. There is no charge (yet) for FASTLANEs @ SFA.

one more batwing question.is the on ride photo sy stem up and running yet?

an hour and a half wait time beats a three hour wait time any day of the week. *** This post was edited by BATWING FAN SFA on 7/6/2001. ***
2Hostyl: I think it costs 30 dollars. I'm not totally sure, but that's what i heard.

I realy hope that Batwing is in tip top shape beacuse my buddies & I were waiting all season to ride Batwing. So tomorrow we are off to SFA and hope that we can get our first ever flight on Batwing.
No, as of July 3, the photo system was still down. Personally, I didnt see the camera, but I have been assured that it is indeed on the helix.

And this will be the last time I say this in this thread, there is currently no charge for a FASTLANE pass at Six Flags America (in Largo, MD)

When I went yesterday, the photo system was up and running all day. It is in the helix. Also, the Skyflyer is $25.00 for a single ride, $40.00 for 2 riders, and $50.00 for 3 riders. It was also open yesterday when I went.

Eric, you posted the wrong date on your trip visit. It didn't rain on the 6th.
