SFA 6/6 Batwing It's Alive!

Associated parks:
None

Arriving around 1:30 me and my little sister went to SFA. We used one of the many free passes to get her in. I had my hopes up that Batwing would open today, but I wasn't shocked when it didn't (however read below). Once again crowds were almost nothing since most schools are still in session. The majority of the GP was school groups. We rode every coaster and just about every major flat ride except for the Octopus because we ran out of time. The Rodeo unfortunately hasn't been running for the last several weeks and I hope it's not a part problem like with what happened with Herhseypark's Huss Ride. It's a great ride and it's usually my main reason for me to travel to Coyotee Creek. I also managed to get my first ride on Iron Eagle this year. The first time we tried it broke down. We were able to get on about 30 minutes later. I wish Zamperla would come and just rebuild the ride or replace it with something more reliable. I swear it breaks down every day and that's a shame. So later in the day we headed back to ride S:ROS again and I see a train on Batwing's lift and it's changing positions slowly upwards while we are walking towards the station. After riding S:ROS I waited along with Alvin another enthusiast and we waited patiently. We waited a good 15 minutes or more and it doesn't move. Since we weren't sure when they would finally let the train go me and my sister got on Superman again and then I see it from the Superman lift; I witness the first public test run I believe. It was beautiful. I heard it was quiet from Alvin and it looked very smooth. I only missed one of the corkscrews because I was on Superman. All in all it was great day to ride. I also ran into two enthusiasts from Texas! *** This post was edited by Intamin Fan on 6/6/2001. ***
Wow thats great that Batwing is testing. That must mean it will be open on Saturday. I will surely be there and will hopefully get to ride it.

Sorry but Batwing is not supposed to open this weekend. There's too much work left to do around the station. I did say they tested but only once the whole day. A more realistic opening date might be Monday but that was a rumor I heard from two different people. Let's put it this way; no one from the park has committed themselves to any opening date which I think is a very smart move on their part to avoid dissapointed customers. BTW I forgot to say earlier that the Batwing sign is also in place near the beginning of the path to the ride. It looks really cool!
I heard under general buzz that the ride would open on saturday, the person who posted this said that he had talked with the park's general manager and she said that the coaster would open on saturday no matter what happens, read the post under general buzz titled is batwing going to be ready on june 12? to find out more.
I basing the opening being later on this: a) when I called the front desk they wouldn't give me a definitive date b) you can't even walk to the ride right now without walking on dirt. There's a lot of work left to be done by the station etc. c) I asked one of the higher-up managers about the opening and he wouldn't give me an answer. d) I don't believe anyone has been trained on the ride yet e) it didn't make it up the chain lift yesterday without trouble. Hey all the power to you if it does open Saturday. I just wouldn't get my hopes up.
I'm thinking about not even going until it is open.I think they should just keep it closed till next year, you know?if they had built the stand-up coaster as originally planned i'll bet that it would have opened by now!
It could've have easily been the same scenario for the standup coaster. Remember they have to go through extensive approvals to get any major project built. You can read all about it at the PG County website. A manager told me on the second operating day of the year that they would take their time with Batwing to avoid any operational problems like with S:ROS last year. Let's give them time to get it right. Besides no one I've talked to has been dissapointed that we didn't get the standup.
while sitting here at my computer I was watching the tv and low and behold I see another advertisement for batwing, only this time the computer rendering in this ad was replaced with real onboard footage, most likely from x-flight showing the green track and blue trains, after all batwing's colors are yellow & purple,so that must mean that they are almost ready to open.let's all hope that will occur soon.check out the ad and post any opinions under general buzz.this is the only batwing post I could find so I thought it would be only fitting to post it here.
