SFA 2005 Trip Reports (Starting 4/17)

Associated parks:
None

*innocent voice* Really im not trying to start anything, I hate it when people argue over stuff on forums. Really im not trying to start anything. But yeah I get your point.

TR: 9/4/05 Moderate Crowds - Warm

Make this real quick for yall....

Went with my family for the first time and with one of my friends. Went for the first time ever since SFI annouced its up for sale.

Rides Closed - River Rapids, Iron Eagle, PBR, Deer Park Plunge (Green Slide).

Batwing got stuck numerous times. They were using both stations. At night multiple employees, security, and paramedics ran to the ride because it once again got stuck trying to go back into the station.

Supes: Finally running two trains again. Little to no stacking.

Wild One: I've noticed they have added a car of Wild One beside the front of the entrance (apart of the history). Also one of the ride ops was a Transexual. Many guest questioned, isn't this a family park? Plus the trans had a attitude the whole time and yelling. First time I've seen a trans work at a theme park.

Batman Theater was almost basically filled with guests. Most to all enjoyed the show. The Saloon was filled too.

Security: I've seen them everywhere. They will be in packs of three. If anything happens I'm there! LOL! It's good to see more security though....

Hurricane Harbor

Well this was basically the last day of opening its doors. My friends and I did basically almost everything in the waterpark (Tornado Twice). Its sad to see its doors close, yet I see more additions for it in the future.

Fright Fest?!

Preparations for this event has just begun. The park is now advertising this event around the park (mini billboards). Also auditions should be going on prolly next week.

Other than that, my family, friends, and I had a good time. Yet it still questions me whats the future for this park, yet rather SFI..... *** Edited 9/6/2005 3:06:54 AM UTC by SF Critic***

I don't know ALL the Facts!!!!!!
I went on saturday(9/3/05) & the park was dead, the usual rides were down IE,KC,RR but TSC did open late in the day(closed most of the day due to staffing issues)& we were the first ones on.

I too have noticed the new car sitting outside WO's entrance near falling star & it looks great,I say they should use that color scheme on the existing trains because it'd just be so fitting givien the history & the fact that 06 will be it's 20th season at the park.Unlike Roar the ride still runs nice & smooth & speaking of Roar it's become so damn rough I just can't tolerate it anymore(please put some GCI flyers on it).

The saloon was so empty we were the only ones in it aside from one employee, usually around 5 PM or so that place is jumping.Rodeo was down when we tried riding it but there was an op on duty however.

Supes had the slowest staff of the day & those new wheels they put on made the ride ohh so rough especially if you're seated in the 2nd row of the car but at least there were no breakdowns all day on it for once.Batwing ran 2 trains & for the most part was almost a walk on & they still havn't fixed the airgate in station 1 that broke last month so only station 2 was open.

From what I saw KC is still intact but word has it AB might be moved to it's spot,my guess is we'll see KC removed during the offseason which is sad cuz I really liked that ride & AB flat out stinks now that they no longer run it in reverse :( .

The finale for our trip was two back to back rides on WO,riding in car 3 seat 2 was one sweet ride with some nice air going through the first half of the course & upon leaving the park I scored a rather rare treat because my lemonade tasted like crap I was actually treated to a free drink at Ben & Jerry's on mainstreet(something you rarely see at an SF park).

In closing it was definitely one of the better visits I've had this season & I'm looking forward to what they've got planned for FF this year....I certainly hope they open the shortcut between SWT & GC again like they did last season.

Great! I really want to go for FF, I haven't been to SFA in about 2 months. :( Glad the park was empty for you!

CP was amazing, going back next June to ride Maverick

Yeah it's very rare to find SFA so empty on a saturday.SFcritic:did you happen to notice that excavator sitting over by Python's storage area?

I saw it from the steps leading to station#2 on Batwing & noticed that one section of Python's track was moved from the pile where it's been stored for the past 6 years, look's like they might finally be getting rid of it.

For those who didn't know, SFA has added a "Bonus Day." The park will now also be open on October 1st. I'm not sure if this was possibly a day previously scheduled as a Privately Rented day where they canceled out or if it is a completly new day, but it's good news I guess.

Also, the parks website has been updated several times over the past week. It had an advert for Fright Fest until earlier today, and now, oddly enough, they have something about Hurricane Harbor, although HH had its last day of opperation last Monday. It certainly is odd, but it's too soon to start speculating anything right now.

However, remember that last year, we got the hints about Hurricane Harbor on the parks website starting JUST before Fright Fest with the banner appearng on the gate at the park towards the beginning of Fright Fest. Hopefully they will have hints for 2006 up like they did for 2005 and we'll have at least a hint in a few weeks.

My hope is that we get something like SFNE did this year where we get an addition to the water park AND the main park. While I'd love to see more in Hurricane Harbor, the main park is in some serious need of a new addition and a family coaster would be perfect.

If you can't stand the heights, get out of the line.

I'm pretty sure they were closed Oct. 1st and have decided to open. They're also having a previously unannounced Josh Kelley concert in the Batman Arena this weekend.

A day at the park is what you make it!

You think Wild one was great on your last visit Pawline? then it's a shame you never got to ride it in it's glory years before the reprofiling was done, that far turnaround was insane back then now it's just average.

It still gives some great air & suprising bursts of speed in some spots, case in point being the double drop to start the return leg of the ride.

It's a bit too soon to speculate on 06(no intentions of turning this into a rumor thread here) but from what I heard earlier in the season they may, just may be looking into a phase two for HH to be added possibly next season but knowing the way SFA handles things I'm leaning toward 06 being an off year & any new additions to HH or anywhere else in the park being more likely for 07.
