SF Great Adventure 10/11/04

Associated parks:
None

First off, I still do not like the Baboons being behind the fence. But, the Rhinos were frisky, and I waited for a few airbags to be discharged, but no luck. The Tigers were packing up and moving furniture, so they were no help either.

Yes, you can see Kanga Ka being built. Its only been in the parking lot for 3 months. Hit the hard park about 12 noon. Over 30,000 in for the day. Crikey. 45 minutes for Batman. Again, they load SLOW. Put the bar down and send it out. 7/10.

Got in line for Nitro. Still great. They should pass out handguns to stop line jumpers. 9.5/10. The ACE membership director was in line behind my managers and myself in line. We said at the exit Nitro was the smoothest Togo we have ever ridden. Sorry to tease you, Matt. Skull Mountain. Another ride that does not need all the slow loading. But, some neat special effects in the ride. 6/10.

Scream Machine. Great, but like I said before, time for new trains. 7/10. Used an exit pass for Superman. Its just too short. B&M clearly undercut Vekoma, and now neither company can give them away. Go figure. Thanks a lot Claude. 7/10.

Batman Chiller. 7/10. What a line fiasco, letting fast pass holders re-ride. Lazy radio wearing supervisors allowing it, Too much blabber from the control room, and why did they stop the ride when some 'overweight' girl fainted in the 'q' line? Why. Kieren, I want an expalnation. Please tell me.

Used another exit pass and did Medusa. 9/10. Actually a good crew, when they don't lean on the e-stop. It bothers me when I see trains stuck on lift hills and in brake runs. Bring the trains to the station, then play CSI. People are better off on the ground than in the air.

Lots of new decorations and shows. SFGrAdv is putting some new emphasis in the event, which is a good thing. They had a new fright zone by that Tee Pee, and Clown walk-through in the Boardwalk section. Good solid crowds. Yes, this park made money.

LOL, I saw you guys up in line (at Nitro) in front of me, but you guys were too far ahead, and I *hate* yelling...;)

Crowds were HUGE compared to my previous Columbus Day visit, and that made for VERY little riding...but some good picture-taking time...:)

I got my Chilla:Batman ride, and it was fantastic....I think I'll still take Freeze, but not by much. The top hat is THE single greatest coaster element...EVER!

Checked out some of the KK stuff, also saw a *really good* contortionist in the Psycho Circus area...the Halloween decorations were out in full force! :)

Happy the park made money, but WOW! do they need to do something about the dispatch times and the closed rides...the lines should not have been THAT long...

RT was *better*, not good, but better...LOL!

You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)

I love the top-hat element too. That and the zero-g roll / inline twist are my favorite inversions. The ride ops at SFGAdv need some SERIOUS speed training. On both S:UF and Batman, I've seen it take up to 4 minutes to launch a ride, which is ridiculous. It should take no longer than 1 and 1/2 minutes.

HAHA

Nitro's the smoothest Togo I've been on also.

Great TR!

This must be an inside joke. As a coaster enthusiast, I'm pretty sure you know that Nitro is a B&M. :)

Batman Chiller is still intense, even though the Intiman's are a coming. The tophat is a great inversion. The TOGO comment stopped em' dead in their tracks. It was meant to be funny.

The evil clown theming at the Boardwalk section reminded me of the first Batman movie (1989), when the parade was going on in Gotham Square. Also, lots of fan interest at the preview center. Good times. Kanga Ka t-shirts on sale for $11.99. What a bargain.

Kingda Ka.

Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."

Guess I should *mention* that line-jumping DOES seem to be a sanctioned sport at GAdv....one of the employees in Nitro's queue was actually unhooking the chain to HELP guests line-jump to catch up with their parties....UGH!
