SF: auto world?
i saw it on the RCR. SF auto world opened in flint MI today. Does anyone have any info about this park? I have worked in flint on a few occasion and cant see a park there(it is a very poor area, fed by the auto companies) mostly now it is junkyards and such. Anyone have any info about the park or where exactly it was located?
Go rent the documentary "Roger and Me" and you will get to see Auto World a bit. Actually, I just want you to watch Roger and Me, but it does have Auto World. Basically, Auto World was one of the projects done by the city of Flint to attempt to revive the city after the closing of auto manufacturing plants pretty much turned Flint into one of the worst cities in America. Obviously, it was a terrible idea, and I believe the park only stayed open a few months before it closed due to a lack of visitors.

I am thinking that they had planned on adding coasters if it had been successful as there is a drawing of the proposed Autoworld in the Sloan Museum in Flint and it shows a wooden out and back and a shuttle loop coaster!
Too bad this never materialized because I work right across the river in Flint from where the former Autoworld stood!
Yeah, I can't see a theme park thriving in an economically depressed city such as Flint. Too bad though, Autoworld looked kinda neat, even though I never visited it. I had heard that is was the type of place that people would visit once but not necessarly come back to.
