SF Astroworld and closed coasters...

Has anyone been to SF Astroworld yet this year? We are going this coming weekend and I would like to know what has been operating and what hasn't? We are planning on hitting all 3 Texas SF parks on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, so we will get our coaster fix either way, but SFAstro has a couple of unique ones that I have heard are currently not operating. Thanks for all your help. *** This post was edited by LoneStarGator on 6/4/2001. ***
I heard that all coasters are operating except for Tornado. That is the one that I want to ride the most. I still have'nt ridden it. I really wish they would hurry up and open it.
I hear that Ultra Twister is closed too. Aren't UT and Tornado the star attractions at the park? Open these babies up! Yes, both are very unique. I believe that Tornado has the most G's(6.7?) of any coaster in the World. I'm not positive though.

Everything above was my opinion. If you disagree, please respond in an intelligent fashion. But before you post,I warn you that some people say I'm just too smart to understand. Please take that into consideration. *** This post was edited by Koaster King on 6/5/2001. ***
Last time I went, Ultra-Twister was running.

Thanks for the input. I will be upset if Tornado isn't running, not so much for myself since I have a season pass and can get down there to ride it sometime this season, but my friend who is flying in from Atlanta won't have that luxury. IMO it is an amazing looking Schwarzkopf that shouldn't be missed. Let's hope Six Flags gets there ducks in a row. Anyone know why it hasn't been running?
The Tornado received new trains with a new OTSR System, which was designed by Anton Schwrzkopfs Son (Wieland Schwarzkopf) and his company. Those new restraints seem to be a failure since the coaster closed shortly after the park installed them. This is very annoying, cause Wieland Schwarzkopf is reported to tell anyone that he is now capable of building all Schwarzkopf designs on his own. Sadly the only machine coming from his plant was the brilliant SOUND FACTORY. This happened to be a Monster/Octupus ride with spinning and looping gondolas (using the same OTSR as Tornado now). The design, appearance and feeling of the ride was great, but the ride seemed to suffer from too many problems, leading the owner to stop the gondolas from going upside down, which ruined the rides whole appeal.
I was happy enough to ride the Tornado in its first operating year (1986)without ANY OTSR! Just lapbar and a lose safety belt. It must have been the closest experience to the famous Riverview Cyclone. It was insane and the ride was altered many times to keep down the forces on the fourth inversion exit.
9 of the 10 coasters at Astroworld are currently operating, with the black sheep being Texas Tornado.

The park was not happy with Weiland Schwarzkopf's new restraints when they tried them out, and they've been working to redesign them for more comfort.

I personally don't know when the ride will reopen, though it's been suggested to me within a month from now. [shrug]

Ultra Twister seems to be running normally once more, also Texas Cyclone is running better than it has in ten years.
