Sesame Street project coming together at Busch Gardens Europe

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

Busch Gardens Europe's new children's area, the Sesame Street Forest of Fun, will open April 3 for the theme park's season, officials said today. The Sesame Street-themed area will offer four new rides that are kid-sized versions of popular attractions, including a junior roller coaster designed so parents and children to ride together.

Read more from The Times-Dispatch and see photos from WAVY/Portsmouth.

I attended the hard hat tour yesterday. The area is starting to really take shape. The coaster is complete, its 24 feet high and 600 feet long. The layout is rather simple, you leave the station and do a 180 turn to the left and then climb up the 24 foot tall lift. The coaster will drop to the left and then climb into a helix, then it will travel through a helix in the other direction before turning back into the station.

The entire area looks good as only BGE knows how to do.

Was it always going to be a "Forest of Fun"? I was under the impression it was going to be another European street area with a Sesame Street theme.

Not that it matters. I was just surprised by the "forest motif".

Ever since it was released to the Public it was Forest of Fun. It is off of England however and European themed, but that was the decided name since public release.

As with any project.. other names were tossed before official publication.

Funny.. I didnt realize you were there as well..

It looks great and it will be a much needed addition to the park in my opinion. They lack a really great kids area. It seemed that the dragon themed one was a bit small and cramped when i was there. They also get Sesame Street to appeal to the kids. Looks like the kids are going to be thrilled when it opens.

^ Quite possibly you were too big of an adult to go through the kiddie tunnels ;)

Seriously though, yeah the Land of the Dragons area was a bit stuffed in the park. Plus if you didnt route through Germany/France you had to endure the Hill Of Hell to get there. This area is much more convenient for those stroller bound folks as its closer to the entrance.

They need to construct this at BGA also.

BGA with just the one kiddie area (Land of the Dragons) is not enough. A second kiddie area on the other side would be great for families.

My favorite MJ tune: "Billie Jean" which I have been listening to alot now. RIP MJ.

BGA already has another kiddie area on the other side...

Hi

My question is, once you're inside the park, does anybody know how to get to the Sesame Street area? Can you tell me how to get, how to get to the Sesame Street area?

^Just in case you were actually asking the question. It will start on the right side of England once you are in the gate. The Globe Theatre will mark its entrance and the land will spread back from there towards Escape from Pompeii. It occupies the area that was once a petting zoo.

^^The knowledge that someone will inevitably ask that with the attempt of humor has already waved through the full time park employees and mentioned in one of the park training sessions..

I dont expect that will be the last.
