Seeking pics of a special early 1900 coaster

I saw an old news reel clip of a woman on a coaster type ride from about 1920 that looked like a merry-go-round horse she was sitting on that went along a coaster type rail with hills.

Does anyone know what I am talking about? The clip may have been from Coney Island or Atlantic City.

Steeplechase at Steeplechase park, Coney Island. They still have one at Black Pool Pleasure Beach in England. *** Edited 8/1/2006 2:22:49 PM UTC by Acoustic Viscosity***

Thanks. They look fun to ride.
After Steeplechase closed in 1964, the ride was moved to the new Pirate's World park in Florida.

The park didn't last long, and I've heard that the ride essentially rusted itself into oblivion after the park closed. I wonder if any of the horses survive somewhere.

You can still ride one of these at Blackpool Pleasure Beach in England.

The one at Blackpool was made by Arrow in the 70s. Knott's Berry Farm had one that was originally motorcycles but was changed to soap box derby racers. It was slow but pretty fun.

I've heard from a couple of sources that I trust as reliable that it's sitting in a warehouse on the East Coast. It would be of historical interest to see it set up, but I doubt that you could get any liablity insurance on it.
Those horses look like fun to sit on, especially when they are going downhill. I never read of anybody falling off of one.
Would this be what you are looking for Sunday Silence?

I took a picture of this Coney Steeplechase picture on a recent European Coaster Club trip at Foire Du Trone fair in Paris. It was hanging on the wall of a small cafe tent in the middle of the fair.

Here's one of me at the same fair, onthe left, being bashed to bits by the once lovely traveling coaster 'king' which has now had OSR fitted? Ouch!

That's it, as are the other photo links people have posted.

I feel like making a trip overseas just to ride it.

I don't know if they'd appeciate you trying to ride their picture in the tent. ;)

lol janfredrick, they do nice french wine in that tent, thats all I remember!
Seriously the Blackpool version is fun, if they run all horses, usually only 1 or 2 lines running at once though. There are only 3 tracks on the Blackpool one, still a good laugh.
