I am a total Dorney freak and I love that park. But after going to Hershey this year, I finally saw the light. I saw how much Dorney actually sucks! And it's sad to know this now because Dorney is my home park and I loved it with a passion! Yes I said "LOVED." Notice the past tense. I will never look at Dorney the same way again! I realized how much Dorney lacks and how much better it used to be before Cedar Fair took over. Dorney used to have tons of trees, lots of shady areas.....now look at it, there are maybe 2 shady areas in the whole park! Cedar fair might have put in a lot of new and big rides(Steel Force, Dominator), but Dorney could have done that on there own! Cedar Fair took away the atmosphere and a whole lot of trees! They took out old and classic rides, rides that were the only ones left in the country, the continent, or the world! When I think about it, Cedar Fair has really destroyed this once beautiful amusement park. Cedar Fair is trim brake crazy! Look at what they did to Thunderhawk!!! A trim on the bunny, that kills the whole ride. Remember those trees next to Laser by the rode? Where did they go? Cedar Fair chopped em down! Why?!?! there was no reason to! I used to love this park alot! It used to be my favorite park! I used to stand up for the park when people would bash on it! Now look....I am doing th bashing! I will never feel the same about Dorney again. I would like to hear your opinions on this.

Why can't Dorney be like Hershey?!?!
I hated the trims on Hercules & Thunderhawk. I rode them both without in May and by June they were sooooo slow. I don't understand it.
I never saw the park WITH the trees, but can picture what is was. Maybe if you send your complaint to the corporate office they might put some in for Arbor Day.

Have you ever been to Great Adventure?????????????
On a Sunday last June we made it to the Hershey exit on the Pa.turnpike in about 1:30.Add 45:00 to that and your at G A.Hershey is a really TERRIFIC park, but G A is the grandfather of the parks in this region. We can boast a lot because we have a large collection of flat rides,a lot of them are new, along with 2 B&M coasters,2 LIM launch coasters, and a really great Arrow looper.I forgot to mention the new waterpark.Next year I believe we are supposed to get a B&M hyper. If you get a season pass,SFA in Maryland should be easy for you to get to.I went to SFO ,that was my destination that Sunday, and that is an exellent park also.CP is 2:00 more down the road. And you pass the exit for Kennywood too.KW is a good stop overnight to rest from driving. It's smaller than Hershey and does not drain you like the bigger parks. You have to ride the Exterminator at Kennywood, and eat the fries sold in front of the Thunderbolt.THEY WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE!!!!!! ----------

i have also noticed things too when visiting different parks this summer. i had a passion for gl/sfo forever. but going to cedar point and sfo every summer since i was a baby really puts them in different perspectives. also going to good parks(bgw, pki, hp), i really see how great a park cedar point really is. busch gardens and hershey were nearly perfect. but then i look back at cedar point and realize that it is in a league of its own. not only is cedar point perfect, it exceeded perfectness in every way. i can look at every coaster at cedar point (w/ the the exception of ID) and say, "that is an awesome ride".

Yes, Dorney has some problems, but then again, DP is better than having no park near you!
Dorney needs trees and a good woodie. However, Steel Force is excellent and Laser is a real gem of a coaster that packs WALLOPING forces into its small layout.
As far as SFGRAdv being a great park -- I'm not so sure about that. It is not attractive and the crowds are abundant. It has a lot of coasters, but not one of them is outstanding IMO. Medusa and B:TR are very good, but not stellar. If only Medusa delivered some actual forces it would be terrific. Still, SFGRAdv has an awesome flatride selection. A good park, but certainly not great.
DP is okay as well. You could do worse. You really should make the trip to Elysburg, PA to visit Knoebel's -- one terrific park.

Trims on a bunny on Thunderhawk?????
That is the ultimate coaster sin!!!
I did like enjoy Dorney before Cedar Fair. I loved the old THawk station how track went around bumper cars. Why didn't Cedar Fair just redo that stations queues? Now Dorney only have those stupid bumper cars with the levers and the fumes are horrible at them. I think the old ones were even Lusse's. The Journey to the Center of the Earth ride was a bit lame but some rethemeing and it could have been cool again. Look at the Old Mill at Kennywood. Then there's the old Rockets. I believe they were next to Journey to the Center of the Earth and the Skyride enterance. Sure they weren't that fun but they gave the park that nostalgic look. Then there was the (Iceburg, Meteorite) indoor tea cup ride with the music and lights that was even lots of fun. Why did that have to go? I'm amazed Cedar Fair kept the old Zeypher train and the fish pond near the go carts since they are the last of the original things at Dorney. I have Dorney passes and only used them 4 times this year and two of those times were at Cedar Point. Cedar Fair did update Dorney but killed the old beauty in the process. :(

Parks hit for 2000!
PKD,BGW,DP,HP,PKI,HW,SFKK,SFA,SFNE,LC,GE,QP,Camden,Lakemont,Knoebels, SFO,CP,
But Dorney still has The Whip. My favorite flat ride of all time!
I wouldn't say CP is perfect. Some of their rides are, but Mean Streak isn't perfect. Their cleanliness isn't perfect. But it is darn near close. I think BGW or IOA is almost perfect.
