See Xcalibur in action at Six Flags St. Louis

Posted | Contributed by Paul Drabek

Negative-G has added a number of photos from Six Flags St. Louis, including shots of the new (actually relocated) Xcalibur.

The ride was also closed Memorial Day as riders were stranded on it. Read more from KSDK/St. Louis.

Hrm. Maybe the ride is cursed.
"That's bad."
But you get a free frogurt.
"That's good."
The frogurt is also cursed.

Ahh, so this is where Evolution ended up. Both times I'd been to Great Adventure, the ride was down. Nice to see it put to good use (and what a great themeing job)!

I'd hold off on the "good use" ... I've been to the park 3 times this year - and have seen Xcalibur not running 3 times... At least they TRY to keep it running (which, I gather, is better than when it was Evolution)

The theaming on it is really good.

Xcalibur sure does look cool....hope it's running next week so I can (finally) see if it rides as good as it looks now...first time to SFStL, it's gonna be a lot of fun!

bill, wondering who broke Hong Kong Phooey's legs....looks painful...;~)

I was there recently and they were testing it and said it would open later that day. It didn't open sadly. They are adding something to fix it from Memorial Day.
I was there yesterday to get my pass processed and to get a quick ride on MF.... All those 8th graders everywhere! Anyways, I did see it shut down the time I was there, of course I heard that someone died on Xcalibur while I was in line for MF. I must admit, they did great themeing and when I saw it outta the woods, it looked mighty impressive...
It reopened at 11:45 today (Thursday). I was the first person on when it reopened. It was my 12th ride of the year on Xcaliber. It is a fun ride, but way too short. I found out that the reason it was down was an electrical connector seperated causing the ride to stop. They supposedly re engineered the connector so it could not accidentally come apart again.

Just a couple of G-Force junkies!

are they running it different than when it was evolution? i'd call the ride many things, but definitely not "short." i have a pretty strong stomach, but i thought i was gonna hurl on that thing.

S:ROS; SFNE. Ride it, and you'll understand.

How exactly did it operate when it was at SFGAdv? Here at SFSL it spins around at the bottom until it comes up to speed then it makes one complete revolution without stopping.
At SFGadv, Evolution operated differently.

The ride spun up to speed, inverted very, very, very slowly, remained inverted for what seemed like hours, then finished the revolution and slowed to a stop.

I've seen it get stuck before, and the staff at Great Adventure needed to use a winch to bring the ride back down. Thankfully, nobody was in it.
