Busch Gardens Tampa Bay is among the theme parks that have been hit by layoffs as SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment begins restructuring its operations. The company says that less than two percent, about 350, of its entire peak workforce, which is about 20,000 across five states.

"Our primary goal is to eliminate some of the duplication ofresponsibility that affects performance, innovation and our ability toexecute quickly."
How does eliminating 15 members of the marching band reconcile with their stated primary goal? Was some other marching band getting in the way...duplicating performance? You might think they would come up with better BS or say nothing rather than blow this smoke...
Perhaps the 15 eliminated members were all playing the tuba. Lord knows a marching band doesn't need that many tubas.

Tuba or not Tuba...THAT is the question.
The amusement park rises bold and stark..kids are huddled on the beach in a mist

I guess this is the "other shoe" after the other two articles...
(1) Sea World Parks raises admission at both Florida parks
(2) Sea World Parks has had a difficult first year of operation
(3) Sea World Parks drops 350 positions
Hmmm...They say they have eliminated 350 *positions*. Obviously that means layoffs at the Sea Worlds and at Busch Gardens Tampa. I wonder to what degree they were able to reduce the number of layoffs by eliminating seasonal positions in the seasonal parks.

They RIF'd 80 full time and part time employees at the
San Diego park. One of the local stations interviewed an
employee that escaped this round of cuts (off screen).
What he relayed was almost the same drivel word for word
that the management of my former employer fed the staff
there (I escaped the first few rounds of cuts over the
last year, but ultimately got cut the beginning of July).

Well now that I read the article, it makes sense. They didn't eliminate "15 members of the marching band." They eliminated the marching band (which happened to have 15 members.) Big difference.
They eliminated one form of entertainment because of the many others available.
Hi
LOL, everyone is in on the conspiracy. The Government, Private corporations. Certain Muslim Groups. EVERYBODY!!

There has to be some kind of rule against reading the subject article before responding, doesn't there? Next thing you are going to tell us is that you read the directions BEFORE you put something together. :)

Someone needs to come up with better BS, but I'm not sure it's the folks at SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment. ;)
But the important question is, how many of the layoffs are for animals? And if any animals were laid off, would PETA demand that they be given unemployment compensation?

Don't be ridiculous!! Of course he doesn't. I happen to know for a fact that when Phantom's Revenge was done, there were a few parts left over.
Edit for quoting fail
Sorry...I always assume that those that respond read the linked article so we don't have to repeat information and let others catch up. I am learning that a lot respond more to the responder than the linked articles.
Not than anybody knows or cares...but the first sentence/paragraph of the linked article was...
This very same article that was the bases for this thread said...
Yeah, I read it. I understand. No need to add the boldface as I am not a friggin' moron who can't understand a newspaper article.
Your post made sense until I read the article.
They eliminated one entertainment option in a park with many, many more. Get it? Duplication! Not so hard to understand.
Quit being such a pretentious douche.
Hi
Just so you know, you're my hero kpjb!
Sea World has a marching band?
Since this was your first response to an article that only discussed a marching band from Busch Garden's I made the assumption you might not have read the linked article. I appologize if this was not the case.
It's incredibly difficult to follow what you're saying, Aamilj. If you insist on using gads of unnecessary formatting in every single post, it would be helpful if you used the quote feature rather than additional formatting when you're responding to a particular comment.
