We've experienced some flooding in my county in WV off and on over the last year, and just the other day had some crazy flash floods in Northern VA near where I work. It spawned a conversation yesterday with some of my recently transplanted coworkers who didn't live here in 2011 when a commuter lot just up the street from my office experienced a lot worse than knee-deep water.
This has been a weird summer. Granted, it's only my sixth (I arrived six years ago tomorrow), but the daily afternoon rains seem to be happening later, and with generally higher intensity, it seems. June had 9 inches of rain compared to 5 the year before (average is 7.5").
