SeaWorld Orlando ditches "comfort collars," lowers height requirement on Ice Breaker roller coaster

Over the weekend, SeaWorld Orlando lowered the minimum height requirement for Ice Breaker from 54 inches to 48 inches. The park also removed the attraction’s “comfort collars.” Riders reported that the attraction now includes a seat belt and lap bar restraint.

I mean, "comfort collar" seems like an oxymoron.

They certainly weren’t comfortable. That was a one and done for me but this might change things.

The comfort collars were the least of my problems with those trains.

Are these the typical Sky Rocket trains?
(And looking at RCDB, does anyone know the difference between the I, II, and III models?)

Wah! It was closed all day Sat when we went. I guess it was for these mods. I’m glad thee restraints were changed. I’m not very bendy and it made it hard to get into the seat.

Even if it was for this, which is definitely a positive, closing your newest attraction on the first Saturday of Spring Break is the most SeaWorld thing I can think of.

I mean...

Now if we could get similar modifications on Tempesto and Tampasto (what's that one really called again?)...

Did they make any ride modifications or engineering changes? If not, why did they have the collars in the first place?

Seat belts were added. Most of the Premier Skyrockets have either seat belts or comfort collars. Parks like the comfort collars because they are easier to check, as the seat belts can't really be checked after the lap bar is closed.

They aren’t a requirement. The Sky Rocket II at Lake Compounce runs only with lap bars.

As does the Sky Rocket at Kennywood.
