Sea World Orlando

I'll be taking a trip to Orlando next week. Just recently went to Disney and Universal and am planning to go to Sea WOrld this trip Is it worth the price of admission? What is Kraken like and how are the other rides? Are the shows and attractions worth it. Just wondering.
If you have never been go. Kraken is a great coaster.
Well if you have never been to a Sea World, then I would say go. However if you have been to say Sea World Texas, then you might be a bit disappointed. The MiG team went to SWO last spring and while Kraken and Atlantis were decent rides, it didn't make up for the admission price. I didn't feel that the park showcased its animals as well as the Texas park did. However if you are of age, the two free beers and the Beer School might be worth the price of admission for you.

If you do go, go with an open mind.
Also if you are looking for a good deal on ticket packets go here:

http://www.floridavacationservices.com/Ticket%20Packages.htm

This was the best values that I could find and we used this place when we went. IF you do use one of the packets with a dinner show included make sure you go to Arabian Nights as Pirates is a "kid's show."

Any other questions email me at webmaster@midwestinfoguide.com

Be sure you hit Islands of Adventure. It is completely worth it.
And be sure to watch you wallet while you are there (@ IOA). There has been a large amount of pickpocketing incidents there lately.

Sea World Orlando is NOT a rides park. It is an animal park with rides. If you don't go in with false expectations and you'll have a great time. I did!

Like Moosh said, if you enjoy sea animals Sea World is a great place to visit. Where else can you touch live stingrays and dolphins without getting into the ocean? Add to that a wonderful shark experience, sea lion exhibit, and an exhibit of the highly endangered Manatees that make Florida their home. The shows at this park are among the best I have seen at any park. The Clyde and Seamore show is worth the price of admission alone. The Shamu show is breathtaking and the Key West Dolphin show is quite a bit of fun as well.

As for the rides, Atlantis is a pretty decent water ride and Kraken is one of the best steel coasters I have ever riden. The best part is that unless it's summer, Kraken rarely has a line. I normally go in late winter and walk on Kraken over and over again. Again, worth the price of admission alone.

Bottom line is that what you get out of Sea World depends on your expectations going into the park. If you relax and take your time with the park and allow yourself to see everything even though it isn't a thrill ride it can be the best park you visit in Orlando. It's certainly a park I never miss. I've been there on four seperate visits and plan on returning every single time I'm in the area.

Certain victory.

I spent about eight hours at SWO at Christmas. Kraken was so worth the trip. The shows are excellent as well. In particular I liked the Clyde and Semore and Odyssea.

I spent about four hours there by myself in November 2001 by myself. I really enjoyed it. It reminded me a lot of our old Sea World in Cleveland, only much bigger in terms of scale. The whale tanks and stadium are pretty amazing.

We didn't go with the mindset of it being a "ride park." We went with the mindset that it should be up to the level of SWT, and it wasn't. It's still a great park, just not SWT.

I wasn't referring to you, Swoosh ;)
Kraken is great. In fact, I just rode it yesterday. Judging by the picture. I was having a good time. The nice thing about Kraken is there is NEVER more than a 10 minute line MAX!!! And in February, there is absolutely no one there. I sat on the ride and went on it 14 times without getting off.
Well I will retract my claws then Moosh. :)

BTW did you see our new MiG family photo? Click on my profile. :)
