Sea World Florida breaks $50 mark with admission price

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

As a sign of the times in Orlando, Sea World will raise its admission price to just over $50. Because prices tend to increase uniformly in Orlando, you can bet that the other parks will not be far behind.

Read the whole story from CNN and AP.

Disney's price, including tax, is $50.88. Sea World, including tax, is $50.83.

ok... let's see. It's a bright sunny day... and you live about 3 hrs from a park. You have a family of 4... that'll be oh... only 200 DOLLARS just to get in the place. plus gas... motel (or if no motel... leave early probably), oh yes, and the outrageous food prices inside parks these days. And with the extremely long lines you may get on the best ride twice to 3 times if your lucky.
What can I say though, I don't blame them. It's not the parks that have to learn, it's the guests. Parks will raise prices on everything they can think of as high as they can as long as people pay it. And unfortunately with how well parks are doing these days I don't think we'll see any kind of major boycots... which would be the best and possibly only solution.

Don't suppose the government could step in somehow. Not that I want them running our parks. (Step right up.... It's not Raging Bull... It's not Mantis... it's.....
"HANGING CHAD!!!")

all we need is a really poor yet powerfull person in government to take his family to a park for a day.

Well, movies are fast approaching $10.00 a pop. Interestingly enough, I worked in admissions at Sea World in San Diego in High School. While Disney and Knott's to the north were charging $22 and $19 respectively, Sea World had already jumped to $28. Now look at where we are. This doesn't surprise me, but it does tick me off as everyone will follow suit. The upside is that it will take some time to reach that point where I can't afford to go and by then I'll be too old anyway. My Guess - in 2050 it will cost $100 to go to a park. In 1970 it was about $10 bucks a head at Disney. *** This post was edited by Skyboss01 on 1/7/2001. ***

The article stated that Sea World has the lowest attendence of any major park in Orlando so WHY are they raising thier prices to what MOST people CAN'T afford??? What is their mental problem?? GREED!!!!!They only have ONE coaster!!

I agree that $50 is a lot, but quit harping on the "they only have one roller coaster" argument. Some people don't go to parks for roller coasters. For those people $50 is better spent at Sea World than at Busch Gardens.
That doesn't change the fact that neither BGT nor Sea World is actually worth a $50 single day admission.

No park on this planet is worth $50 to get into.

That's what I said earlier. I don't think that any park is worth that much. I don't know why Busch Entertainment thinks that they should have the highest prices of any neighboring parks. SW of Cleveland has always been more expensive than Geauga Lake/SFO for as long as I can remember.
Aaaahhhhhh! What is this world coming to? If anything SW should *lower* their prices not raise them. I have a family of 6, 3 adult admissions, 3 child. If I am correct child admissions are $40. So then it would cost my family what $270 to go to Sea World for 1 day? That's crazy. Aren't these people rich enough?

See you in 2001 for twice the fun (hint, hint)
It won't seem like so much when they get the new coaster in..............
