Sea World Boat Accident Video

This came up on the podcast recently, something about too bad there was no YouTube then...

Well, someone uploaded it now. ;)

I saw this on TV a couple of years ago on a show like Unsolved Mysteries!!!

They were trying to figure out what when wrong and how one person was pressing charges for getting crushed by the boat!!!

I happened in Sea World Ohio in like 1991 or 92. Thing Sea World Ohio is now Gauieda Lake I think?

It happened in 1996 the park is Geauga Lake ;)

2006 - 2009 Cedar Fair Ride Operations
2009 - Walt Disney World Attractions.

No it was Sea World where that happend in 1996 crombie. Geauga lake was on the other side of the lake
I meant to add the park is NOW Geauga Lake lol

2006 - 2009 Cedar Fair Ride Operations
2009 - Walt Disney World Attractions.

And there is no reason for it to be on "Unsolved Mysteries" either.

They stopped the shows at the remaining Sea World parks for a few days till they found a design flaw with a pin on the steering system.

No "mystery" .. They knew within a few days what happened.

The show that this was featured on was not Unsolved Mysteries. It was a show on court TV called Extreme Evidence that took you through what happened and how they came to discover the problem. Just wanted to clear that up. I actually have that episode on tape. Interesting watch I must say.

You know, I kinda have to think that Sea World is partly to blame, in the sense that the boat choreography should have never included a fast moving boat headed straight towards the stadium, unless there was some sort of barrier or break wall. Even if there was no mechanical problem with the speedboat, the skipper could have fallen ill or been injured, leaving no one at the wheel to change course.

That's what happens when you "stay the course."

I said a show LIKE "Unsolved Mysteries",

I do not remember the name of the show so I compared it to like what show it was on using "Unsolved Mysteries" as an example!

Just messing with you but I think you get the award for butchering the name Geauga Lake out of any other spellings that I have seen of it. :)

My favorite MJ tune: "Billie Jean" which I have been listening to alot now. RIP MJ.

I knew I put too many vowels in it!!!;)

The one thing that Sea World lucked out on was it was a jet powered and not a prop powered boat.

A spinning prop into the crowd like that would have gotten really ugly.

^yeah, but it would've made for better video. ;)

I wonder why they never did a Seconds from Disaster episode about that.

I remember seeing that on the news. We were stunned.
