SDC/CC Questions

Where is Celebration City is going to be built? I have looked on their website, but they only go as far as to say "Branson, MO." Will it be right next to SDC?

A few other questions. I am taking a trip to SDC in April of next year. What will the crowds be like, and are there any other "must-rides" besides the coasters?

Thanks in advance.

Where Mutton Hollow and Branson USA was. So in other words behind Yakov Smirnoff's theatre.

Thanks Swoosh, but I'm not familiar with the park at all. Is Yakov Smirnoff's theatre inside the park? What I am asking is, is this going to be two parks right next to each other or even connected, or more like the WDW parks, with a few miles in between them?

--Ryan

It looks like two seperate parks. I think it's about 6 miles from each other, or around there.

Be sure and do the Wilderness Water Boggan and Rappids ride at SDC, not to mention Fire In The Hole and the others.
I wish there was more water boggans around. I love that ride!

The Waterboggan is going to be completely renovated for next season as well, so it should be fun...

I noticed yesterday the entire track had been removed from the waterboggan.

Celebration City will be close to the Hwy76/Hwy376 intersection at the tail end of the "strip" right before you climb the mountains to SDC. The parks will be about 5 miles from one another but since people stay close to the strip anyways, it will be very convenient for the visitors. Branson is in dire need of more nightlife besides mini golf and go karts and I believe this park is just what the doctor ordered. They are projecting 500k in attendance the first year and I think they will easily get that and thensome.

Some information that I pulled out of one of the "hostesses" at ERT was that they are completely redoing the tubing on the ride, which will include a little bit different course. Also they are getting new boats - she didn't go into detail. Another interesting thing is that the entire facade on FITH is getting redone. That is why the canvas mountain was partially taken off this weekend. From the sounds of it though, the inside won't be redone too much.

Also for those who have gone to the Christmas event at SDC - don't you think the christmas lights in FITH are hooky? "The towns on fire, but hey - we still have to be in the holiday spirit."

Now "...you get back in here and put your pants on. I ain't got no pants no more, the dang baldknobbers stole 'em...'stole 'em? What would they want wit' yer' pants?

LOL! ;)

The Christmas lights in Fire in the Hole make for a very festive Baldknobber's town burning ;) Plus it lights up some areas of the ride that you normally do not get to see. Nice to see a park spending time and money on upkeeping some older rides. Be interesting to see what "surprises" are in store for Wilderness Waterboggan.

Enjoyed meeting you and your wife this past weekend Jim. We have a good picture of you riding with us in the front seat of Wildfire. Will try to get that on the web soon.

Did you guys get wet at all when you rode FITH with Melissa and me? I think I got wetter from the seat than the ride itself.

Exactly. The hinder area was wet from the seat more than the light spray from the splash down. Nice getting to meet you and Melissa.

*shameless plug alert*

Hope to see you guys at more ACE Heart of America Region events such as the Ozark Wildcat opening and the 2nd annual Coaster Christmas next year.

Jim Wolgamuth

So, what did you guys think of The Ozark Wildcat? Are you guys going to post pics on the web somewhere???

They will be posted to either www.themeparksonline.org or www.ace18.org not sure which one. Ozark Wildcat is coming along nicely. GCII President Clair Hain Jr said that the coaster should be done around the middle of Febuary and start testing at that time.

Jim Wolgamuth

March 1st is when he HAS to be done per SDC, or at least that is what Clair said at the walk through.

I think it was said that soft openings will start April 19th, I will have to look through my notes at home and make sure, but I think that is what Billy said.

The old Windstorm coaster looked to have some new track sections and is being rehabbed as it ran real rough during Branson USAs final season.

Jim Wolgamuth

I thought I dried off that front seat for you Dustijn. I sure felt like I did.

Jeff

Everybody who rode had a soggy bottom it sounds like.

Jim Wolgamuth

Yeah, I appreciate you drying that seat off for me, Jeff. I think Melissa might have came out on the worst end though. Her bottom was wet for quite awhile. I wonder why the seats were so wet, it wasn't as if the ride's jets were going.

Yeah Jim I noticed that it appeared to have some new sections as well.

Coasterbill, they are coming - look on here soon and I will have a link.

Bill he was talking about FITH (Fire in the Hole) during ERT. For some reason the seats were all wet - yet the jets weren't on. Hey Jeff, did Jennifer ever say why she wouldn't go on FITH, she's done it before.
