I think they should have kept the old name. It sounds alot better.

As long as they don't change their name to Six Flags, its good news.

It makes a lot of sense to me. The Herschend's corporation has grown much larger than Silver Dollar City, and you can count on them expanding even further beyond theme parks in the future. Dixieland Stampede was just the beginning.
Never underestimate redneck entertainment.
I don't really care much about the name change. Sure, SDC Inc. sounds better, but this is a good way to honor the family that started SDC. If you read the book they sell at SDC, the history of Silver Dollar City, you can read about how big of a role they played in making the park successful.
They should be proud to put their name on their company.

The Herschend name was in the company name to begin with in the early 1960s,when it was Herschend Enterprises, then it was changed to SDC, Inc. later in the decade. In a way then the name is going back to being very simular to what it was in the beginning. I highly recommend the Story of Silver Dollar City book to anyone interested in how this very unique park came to be and how it all started from a hole in the ground.

I'd be damn proud if my name were on that company! During my trip to SDC 2 weeks ago, I really fell in love with the park. The whole atmosphere is amazing. It now rivals Holiday World as the two friendliest parks I've ever been fortunate enough to visit. Definitely world class! Now if only they had a terrain CCI or Intamin ;) lol!
