The legend lives!
I haven't noticed, but then again I really don't like screaming on rides, especially people who do it the entire time, in an extremely shrill fashion.
I usually say "Woo!" or something right before the first drop, but otherwise I'm silent (unless I make a comment to the person beside me).

when I first rode, I screamed like a baby! then I started tensing up and gritting my teath through extreme g moments. lately I've been giving a lot of Whoo!s and Oh Yeah!s. but now that Ric Flair is back, I think that I'm going to have to extend my Whoo!s into Whoooooooooooooooooooo!s. also, last year I started throwing in laughing and a nice scream through the tops of loops and camel backs.

Myself, the airime whore that I am, I prefer the "Oh yeah, airtime baby!!" but that is my personal preference.
On topic, I think that as a rule, people are more high thrill oriented then years ago. The popularity of bungee jumping, extreme upcharge attractions, and bigger and better coasters have desensitized them to some of the older coasters. Just a theory here.

For a while during my teen years, my buddies and I would shout out a certain movie quote just as we were going over the edge.
"We're on an express elevator to hell, going DOWN!"
Anyone name the movie???

I think it really depends. A good place to hearing (or not hear) screaming is waiting in line for Viper at SFGAm. You're right by Raging Bull's first drop and get a good ear-full as the train drops. There's times when it's almost silent and other times when there's so much screaming it's crazy. Perhaps we're becoming a little desensitized but I don't think it's changed too much.

When I did my very 1st lap on Millennium Force thats the only time I screamed my head off, keep saying it was a erie feeling going up the lift. Other than that I dont usualy scream anymore expect for Millennium Force ;).

I still pretty much yell/scream. It just adds excitement to the ride, I think. Most of the yelling/screaming is genuine. Well, depends upon the ride.
EchoVictor.......that line is from *Aliens*, right??

Does CCI know how to make a bad coaster?
As for screaming, in general, being down, I think that is a falsehood. Sometime this summer, take a trip up to SFA. Watch as S:ROS crests that notorious third hill. Even though the riders will be almost a quarter of a mile away from you, you'll most assuredly hear them scream (as everything else goes dead silent)

That movie was "Aliens"
Well, on X's first drop I exclaimed "Holy S*@#!" Usually, I will say WOO or Yeah and if I really like the ride I will be laughing through most of the ride.
