FYI, according to Jodi, the So Cal ACE rep, Scream cycled for the first time yesterday. I'm sure some of the local sites will have pics soon. April 12th opening is still scheduled.

Anybody gonna be there on the 13th? My plans changed. I might be able to swing the 12th though. I can't wait!!! I've never been on a floorless.

jf - Since I am not going to the media preview day I plan on riding the coaster on either the 12th or 13th, but haven't decided which day. I could be persuaded to wait until the 13th if you or someone else wants to meet up.

Doesn't surprise me.. The Consign AG guy arrived on the 17th.

Woot! I might have to go check it out this weekend if I get the chance.

If I end up there on the same day to ride it for the first time as some of the rest of you, hopefully I'll run into some of you lot :)

I don't think theyre will be any photos/video till this weekend. Ops begin training this weekend (I Burn Churros is on opening crew!), and if all pans out, I should be riding it next Thursday! :):):)
SFMM already has a bazillion coasters.... I think LeSourdsville Lake should have gotten this. ;)

Any pics with it testing yet?

SFMM sure did do the opposite of what Cedar Point did this year (not saying this is abad thing, just an observation). SFMM put a ride lighning quick while CP starting building in the middle of last season!

Craig - CP also has to contend with Ohio weather and testing/finetuning Dragster once it's built. Because Scream is not new technology and So Cal has relatively good weather it takes less time to construct, test, and open a coaster.

It just goes to show that CP is building for the future! They were thinking well in advance for that coaster!

And no other parks plan in advance? Give me a *freakin* break here. Stop putting CP on a pedastal simply because they started construction on a 420' coaster earlier than SFMM began a 150' coaster. It has nothing to do with "planning for the future." It has everything to do with the scope of the Dragster project and the cold Ohio winter.

The park doesn't start daily operation till the 29th, so you won't see any photos until the weekend.

I guess I was referring to the comments in the most recent diary entry. Rob Decker did say, "[t]he era of executing the design and construction for major rides from season’s close to season's opening is over". I know he was referring to seasonal parks and all, but I just found it interesting that CP is kind of straying from the norm of quickly building a coaster much like SFMM is now.

Anyways, to get back on topic, I'm happy to see another absolutely gorgeous B&M coaster go up.

Nobody builds and tests a coaster on the scope in TTD in the time it took MM to build Scream! If MM was going to build a "strata" they'd have started a long time ago as well. And if CP were to put in a Medusa clone, they would've thrown it up in a few months, just like MM (a little slower for weather...). Is there a shortage on common sense?

Dang Andy...so testy today :) Anyway it is written in the great scrolls that the almighty CP must laud over MM at all times.
