School field trip to closed amusement park

Can't they just build a park in Reno? I can't see why nobody would do it, perhaps the heat.
^ Oh yes, let's have some company build an amusement park in every city so that incidents like this never happen again. Are you kidding? Let's be serious now.

My biggest question is how did this pass with the school board/officials?

I remember going on robotics trips in HS (yes, we had a robotics team, it was awesome, and i'm heading to the Championship right now) we had to jump through hoops, sign away things, show schedules. I even remember the BGW.... i mean BGE physics trip we took. That took TWO MONTHS of planning, on top of just getting the permission, which took nearly all year.

You think someone would AT LEAST look at the schedule!

That's what I was thinking too. You would think that someone, just out of curiousity, would have looked at the website to perhaps check on park policies, or even to compare ticket prices. Yet somehow, not one school official, or any of those "top" students, noticed the park was closed.

Can you imagine what the four hour trip back must have been like?

"I go out at 3 o' clock for a quart of milk and come home to my son treating his body like an amusement park!" - Estelle Costanza
"It was pretty much a fiasco," said Washoe County School District spokesman Steve Mulvenon. "They ended up wasting a day that those kids could have better spent in class or doing what they were going to do at the park."

Well I guess if you have no clue about what they were going to do at the park, you shouldn't be expected to have a clue when that park would be open or closed.

^^ Yeah, that's kind of like the little park here in Sacramento that nobody knows about. What I was thinking was that more people go to Reno than Vallejo, so they could cash in on that with a big name amusement park. It said RENO, not NOWHERESVILLE USA KraxleRidah. Well, it's like how there are tons of amusement parks in Japan, and some cities like Tokyo are able to sneak in roller coasters in the stranest places, so surely Reno could do something like that.

I know this is off topic, but what team are you with? I'm with 451 (Curie Division), actually typing this from the hotel room right now. Good luck to you guys.

Now back to closed amusement parks....

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

Those poor kids! Six Flags should bring them back on a buy out day that is not open to the GP. I got an invite to a buy out at SFGAm in 2004 and it was the best day ever! No waiting for anything all day!
Looks like Six Flags wants to bring them back and roll out the carpet for them also.
