The 40-acre, year-round Schlitterbahn Water Resort, located in the Schlitterbahn Vacation Village, announces the first of many world-class attractions: the Torrent Tidal Wave River. This massive momentum river is powered by a monstrous 25,000 gallon, 20-foot-wide, tidal wave that races through more than 1,620 feet of waterway making it the longest attraction of its kind in the world!

We are pleased to announce our first family-thrill attraction," explained Michael Catcott, project executive for the Schlitterbahn Vacation Village. "The Torrent River is a proprietary Schlitterbahn-owned technology that can only be built by Schlitterbahn. I'm excited that the most ambitious version of this attraction will entertain new legions of fans right here in Kansas City, Kansas. This continues to demonstrate our commitment in making the Schlitterbahn Vacation Village THE family entertainment destination of the Midwest. We look forward to announcing even more attractions soon.

The Torrent Tidal Wave River is scheduled to open summer 2009 with the Water Resort.

I'm curious to see if everything they bought at Geauga Lake will be going to Kansas. Or do they plan on using some of it elsewhere.

Sounds unfortunately similar to a storm surge.

In seriousness, it sounds fun. I'd like to see a model though. Is this a lazy river/wave pool?

^I think it's a copy of Torrent from the Bahn in New Braunfels...a SWIFT lazy river, with some wave generation/jets along the course to keep the water moving...and fast. River Troy was pretty fast....but it's no Torrent, LOL.
