Schlitterbahn Coming to Kansas City!!!

I don't see what a Castaway Bay does to help OoF compete during the warmer months. I also don't see a need for OoF to spend a ton of money trying to take visitors away from the shiny new park. People love the new toy and OoF should just sit back and add whatever has been in the plans as scheduled, which should lead to retention of a large percentage of season pass holders.

WoF should continue to expand with the idea that it can actually benefit from the tourists that are coming into town for entertainment purposes. They have 3-4 years to plan and build and extra billboards on the west edge of town won't hurt.

This might be a good time for Cedar Fair to think about combining the gates for Oceans of Fun and Worlds of Fun...ala Dorney, MIA, and Geauga Lake. Raise the price a regular ticket a bit...maybe not to the point of what they are on a combo ticket now. People will think that is a real value considering what they pay now.

In a word, capacity. 20 people in front of you for a coaster typically means you're almost on the ride. At a waterpark, 20 people means you have *a wait*...which is why waterparks need LARGE numbers of rides...and Schlitterbahn knows that better than anyone... :)

Who can explain or where can I get more information about the "Transportainment" system and what effect it has on attraction wait times? The website talks about it like it's just a system for getting people around the park, but doesn't explain how it eases wait time for an attraction.

Also, looking at the artist rendering of the park it would be difficult to get immediate rerides on your favorite attractions. It looks like the red-colored paths get you to starting points of all attractions. At the bottom you are dumped into the lazy river. Then you'd have to rideout the lazy river for a while to get to an exit point back onto the red-colored paths.

So the only way I can see ride waits reduced is because everybody's stuck in the lazy river waiting to get out! The river isn't so lazy anymore :S

Any explainations? I'm sure Schlitterbahn knows that this system is elite else they wouldn't be using it. I just don't get it and it may irritate people on a short visit.

WOW! This link is helpful in explaining the system a little bit. Now I'm starting to understand it better; pretty neat! *** Edited 9/17/2005 3:20:14 PM UTC by GregBuzz***
